Title: Bowyer's Journal, printer delays but on it's way
Post by: Brian Halbleib on September 30, 2007, 10:26:00 PM
Our printer has been upgrading equipment this year and we were assured there would be a smooth transition. Well, the fall issue is a few weeks behind as some of you have noticed. I understand the printing is done and the distribution has started. Thanks for your patience.

Well, with the cost of bows and arrows today, $19 a year is basically free.

What's the latest on your transition out Brian? Are you still looking for someone to take over the magazine? Looking forward to the next issue and hoping that the changes you alluded to last month don't change the mag.

Well, we have 2 serious buyers in the forefront, both with deep traditional archery roots, and several other interested parties and corporations in the background. We've moved forward with the 2 serious prospective buyers. They have signed confidentiality agreements and are reviewing financial documents right now.

I would feel comfortable with either of these folks taking over. They have both mentioned me staying on in some capacity, at least short term, but that will untimately be up to the new owner.

I'm still enjoying it and will most certainly miss it but I am swamped. My biggest helper, my wife Karen, is back teaching in the classroom and her assistance is limited now with that and both of our daughter's schedules. And the printer delays have not helped but that's part of being in business.

Most of my spare time away from my full time day job is spent handling every aspect of the magazine. A new full-time owner and staff will have more time to devote to expanding and promoting the journal, which will make it even better. Both of the serious prospective buyers plan to make this their full time job. I cannot commit to that at this stage in my life.

Again, sorry for the delay on the fall issue but it is out of our hands. I know they are being mailed and people should start getting them any day now.

Brian,

Thanks for starting such a great magazine. It has become one of my favorites in a very short time. All the best to you and your family.

Thanks Brian. That's good news on the prospective buyers (that they have deep trad roots)

I'm sure the next issue will be worth the wait (and not nearly thick enough)   :bigsmyl:

Yep, thanks Brian for filling a void in traditional archery reading.

Good luck with the transition.
