Title: Being in the woods is medicine for the soul
Post by: recurvericky on December 02, 2014, 09:07:00 PM
A few weeks ago, I found out that my dad has stage 3 lung cancer and stage 4 bone cancer. To say the least, I was a little stressed. After a week at work with my dad on my mind, I needed to be in the woods. I decided to go out for a morning hunt. While in my stand, I had a flock of turkey's fly down and hang around for about an hour. While watching the turkeys, I had a really nice buck slip by me. As I was sitting there think about the buck slipping past me, I realized all of my stress was gone. It is truely amazing what time in the woods can do for your soul. At that point, I realized just how much I love being in the woods and enjoying nature. Now if I could just bottle this medicine and sell it, I would be a very wealthy man.

Amen to that Brother!  I will whisper a prayer for your Dad.  And know that he will always be with you in the woods.  You will see him in everything around you.

The woods work. I walk a 3 mile round trip hike almost every day. the first half is all uphill and once I pass a few houses I have it all to myself. God and I have had a lot of talks on that walk. I have asked a lot of questions and have even got a few answers.

Bottom line is it gives me time to air out, clear the cobwebs so to speak. Yeah, the woods are good.

I will put a prayer up for your Dad and you, take care of yourself.

  Thanksgiving morning............

"Be still and know that I am"

I would rather be in the woods thinking about my Creator than in church thinking about hunting...

Bless you and yours.

Being in the woods is a sickness by itself and the only way to cure it is by being in the woods.
I got to go in the woods at least onces a week and if I can't make it for any reason,I will feel empty that week. When I will go this coming week-end I will send a prayer for your dad.

MAY THE SPIRIT OF FRED BEAR GUIDE OUR ARROWS.

The only thing like being in the woods is being on the ocean.  Both are good medicine.  That's why I'm happily addicted.  If my wife understood and even wanted to share it I'd actually think I'd died and gone to Valhalla LOL.
