Spent some time going through the bow stable today and brought out a bow I haven't shot in awhile and figured I would share some pics. Bit of a different looking Holcomb 59 kodiak reproduction. Excellent bow that I got custom built by Ed several years ago, a great guy who makes a great reproduction recurve. (http://i.imgur.com/W1qSOo7.jpg)

Beautiful Bow!
I have a custom wood 59 kodiak of Eds as well. Super great bows...I will post pics if II can figure out how...mine is 6 yrs old....it is a wenge riser with cocobolo I-beam, grip lamination and tips. Just beautiful....
Thats a real beauty there, i know its a reproduction, but i bet it would look really sharp with a radiused shelf instead of flat, very nice bow you got there.
AWESOMEEEEE looking bow

I can picture what you mean. I feel like the 59 kodiak is a great overall bow "platform" while maintaining some simplicity. So much can be done with a proven functional form and then that classic I beam always catches my eye.
Forgot to add that the riser and tip overlays are some old growth Brazilian rosewood that Ed had stored away. The pictures do no justice to this amazing wood. Depending on the light there is even subtle purple hues visible. Awesome stuff.
Great bows and a great guy . He gives away bows to kids . My is a wedge riser with Purple Heart window Zebra wood limbs . Just classic
What brace hight are you guys shooting . Got mine at .8 inch with a sbd string . Shoots great with woods and gt heavy hunters
I have mine at 7.5in for now, yet I feel like I will push it more towards 8. Was still getting a bit more limb slap than I want during the shot. Of course I don't have pads or anything on the limb belly either. It's been awhile since I've had this bow out and its almost one of the only with a B50 string on it and I almost forgot how much these things stretch. I spent alot of time twisting before doing anything else the other day.
Ed sure makes sweet bows.
Asked Ed if he would make a longbow. I was sorry I asked

Got an ear full for that question did ya?
O man did I. Got my 59 in Baltimore shoot 5years ago . Every time I see fuzzy at a shoot and I'm carrying a longbow he bust my chops. I think at all the shoots this year ill be shooting my 59. So he'll lay of me . Sure wish he would make the 1960 Kodak special again . Man that bow was nice.
When I got my 59 a couple years ago, I want to say 2-3, I got the impression talking to Ed he was doing alot of business making the Drake repros. Which are pretty nice, but few bows are nicer than some of those kodiak specials you see out there. I've only seen a few Ed's versions but all looked outstanding.
when I received my second 1959 repro from ED, he included a bow for my son free of charge! he loves kids and wants to see them shoot with their fathers! Great guy..!!
can't beat that and few better causes than promoting the tradition!
