How do you ge t paint to stick to aluminum shafts without it flaking off...
The shafts need to be "squeaky" clean. Seriously!! Take a paper towel and wet it with acetone. Rub the shaft vigorously until it squeaks. Then it's ready to paint.
What about longbows. Is there any type of paint that can be applied to a bow that is easily removed after hunting season?
Not sure about "easily", but there are removable camo paints available. A set of sleeves might fit the bill for you.

For alum shafts the best paint is Bohning Fletch -Laq. It is expensive, it is stinky, but it works. Also Rustolem 2x works. I used on a couple shafts as a test. So far so good.
But agian those shafts need to be clean. I use hot water, comet cleanser and a scrub pad. If your not painting right away I bundle them and wrap the part to be painted in scran wrap to keep air away.
I used to paint my bows with camo paint and would take it off using WD40.
I clean my aluminum shafts with 91% Isopropyl and let them dry thoroughly. I then crown dip with Bohning Products.
The only aluminum shaft that I had problems with paint chipping off and flaking was the XX78 Super Slams. Not sure what kind of finish was applied to them.
Why not try limbsations by onestringer to camo your bow? You can get it all kinds of camos and patterns like snake skin. Easy to remove.

Plasti-dip. They paint cars with it and then peel it off when they want to change colors.
