The day started with 0 degree temp and 20mph southeast wind, perfect for the stand I wanted to hunt. I bundled up, grabbed my bow and body bag and started out in the four inches of snow. Sign was reassuring as I started my quarter mile hike. Seventy five yards from my stand I bumped deer, but due to the strong wind my worries for a fouled hunt where minimal. It didn't take long after I settled to see dark silhouettes moving directly towards me, three to be exact. The doe was in the lead, but as she entered my shooting range she pinpointed me in the tree.

Man I like that bow...cant wait for the rest of the story!!
gorgeous bow! lets hear the rest!
Waiting patiently.... :campfire:

I'm betting on the '59......
Before the kill shot, can we see details of that quiver and attachment?
:coffee:
She seemed to be settling down until she cut my tracks. Then the high stepping deal started and she began pulling her fawns with her. When the bigger of the two fawns stepped to a shooting lane broadside, a split second thought "can I thread this through?" entered my mind. Just as fast the arrow was gone. The lighted nock hit perfect and popped out the other side. The deer bolted, but its twin sister stopped to smell the arrow. For a moment she looked like Rudolph the Red nosed reindeer as she sniffed the nock. Crashing noises 30 yards away confirmed a perfect hit. After the woods settled an owl let loose close by. Deciding that I wasn't froze solid yet, and tags left in our party, I decided I'd sit for a while longer and soak up the moment. I knew this was my last hunt for the year so I wanted relish every last moment. Fifteen minutes later I caught movement to the West again, and knew it was a different doe with two trailing fawns. Again the doe was in the lead and again she picked me out in my tree. The difference this time was she didn't cut my trail and she looked like she was late for an appointment. When she hit my opening at 12 yards, like magic the arrow was gone again and again she ran 30 yards and was down with a crash! To say I was beside myself is an understatement. Calls went out to the rest of my party with confirmation that help was on the way.

The quiver is a hodgepodge of pieces and parts which I'll post picks of later.

Here she be!
  :archer:
Congrats on the doe and the great pics!
A great day in the woods, for sure, and a freezer full of venison secured on your last day of the season. Hard to top that!

To say this was a spectacular end to my season is an understatement. I've only killed 7 animals with traditional equipment, but I'm always amazed at how magical it seems when it happens. No sight pins, no peep sight, no drop away rest, no trigger, no let off, no expandable head, no problem! I have to thank my dad again for submerging me in this amazing endeavor and giving a place to enjoy it!
Congrats!!!!
That is a big doe! Congratulations and I enjoyed the story.....

Awesome story! I would love to double up on a hunt!
Lets hear more about your set up? How do you like the '59? I shot one and loved it, great shooting bow! Congratulations again! SS
Yeah man!!! Magical right there. Congrats on the animals a double in weather like that is awesome
Beautiful! Congratulations.
Yeah just ate the tenderloins on mesquite BBQ grill, yum yum! My setup is a 2013 Bear 59er 50#. Beaman Centershots 600, with old Bear Razorheads. The quiver was a deal I bought on the classifieds I thought it was a Bear leather top, but I think It was actually a high school shop project. I then made modifications.
Congratulations! I
A memorable hunt, congrats!
Very cool. I love the late season here in MO when the temps start to flirt with those types of numbers. You got me all pumped up now!
Congrats!
Congrats! beautiful Bow and good shooting. My perfect season would always end on great hunts in the woods with the harvest being on my last day.

LOL - That made me laugh, hard.
Nice shooting and congrats.
I've always admired the '59 from a distance, such a beautiful design. I finally got to hold one in my hand this past weekend at a local shop... really bad idea. Opening this thread hasn't helped matters, heh. I recently acquired a used Robertson Fatal Styk Z which is a great looking bow and an amazing shooter (and the reason holding a '59 is a bad idea: my wallet can't take another hit that big so soon), but that '59's siren song is still calling to me. Must... resist...

Congrats!
Congrats! Sounded like an awesome morning!

Chris
