Title: 7 Lakes Recurve?
Post by: Caleb the bow breaker on November 19, 2014, 11:00:00 AM
Gang,

Been emailing Mike at 7 Lakes about his recurves.  Did a search of the Gang and didnt see a whole lot of info.  Does anybody have a 7 Lakes Recurve?  What are your thoughts?  How does it compare to other bows that you might have?

Mike has only recently introduced his recurves, so I guess there isn't much information regarding their performance. I was hoping someone could offer some insight, but I will say that, while haven't had the opportunity to shoot one, I do have one of his R/D bows that he built custom for me. It is a great bow with superb craftsmanship. I am confident his recurves are the same. I have been seriously considering getting a Backswoodsman.

I have finished one of his 54" recurves and am putting the final touches on a 60". I have found the 54" to be one of the easiest bows to shoot. Very accurate and forgiving, and most importantly quiet.

The 60 is super smooth and quiet. Zero handshock. But I haven't taken it out of the basement range yet or put the final coats of finish on it so I cannot give a full review.

In comparison to Mike's longbows, I would say the recurves have more performance and less handshock. I have made a few of his longbows from blanks - including carbon backed models - and the recurves may be my new favourite.
