hi all, tonight i shot my first trad deer. i climbed into my stand after attending a civil war re-enactment. last week i had shot over this same doe. using my checkmate falcon with wensel heads on cedar shafts i drew and shot hitting her in the neck. she went straight down and rolled over snapping my arrow. i put another arrow on, laying on her side- back to me, i shot the second arrow into her mid back. after shooting thousands of arrows and missing six deer, i finally did it! now i'm after horns! what a feeling.
congrats and good job  and thank you in advance for the pics you'll be posting :D

Okay I have to ask you missed 6 deer and shot this one in the neck, did I understand this right, is this also your first deer,or first trad deer, what went wrong?
Congratulations buddy, it just gets easier from now on. Al
Congrats! I'm hoping for my first deer this year. I can't wait
thanks for the kind responses, you're all cool. sorry about not posting pic's, i wouldn't have a clue how to do it. not set up for it or something. to answer rico's question: this is my first deer with a trad bow. shot a bunch with compound. last year i missed six deer with my recurve, my first year hunting with it. the neck shot: i have no idea why i hit it there. i couldn't believe it myself. i use the tip of the arrow as my so called aiming point. i drew back and anchored put the point on her and let fly, i thought i broke her back. i wasn't nervous or anything. it just happened the way it did. thanks again to all. by the way, those wensel heads are wicked.
LOL I know things can go wrong under hunting conditions.
Have you tryed shooting instinctive. That made a big difference for me. Good Luck on that buck.
G.reat going. Got my first one in 1972 with a recurve and have never forget it, you will not either
congrats! I still remember my first deer with a trad bow in 1981 ; and the one I shot tonight with a tradbow :)
