Now i am sorry if you were expecting hundreds of inches of horns, and my title may have been a little misleading. However I did manage to kill what I feel is my best buck. This past weekend was youth firearms season in Missouri and after my daughter tagged out my son Riley wanted to go hunting. As much as he thinks he can I just don't think he is ready to hunt the moment of truth would come and he would just look at you and say "you do it". Plus he is picky he wanted a buck, he claimed Dibbs on a six point that my daughter and I saw close enough to take a cell phone photo of and text home. Last Sunday evening Riley and I headed out hunting. Let me tell you a few things about Riley. First he is noisy he makes noise just breathing. Second he gets cold easy. Third he has a hard time just sitting still but that just may be a boy thing and finally he has down syndrome. During the hunt we did see a buck but it was just too far to shoot. Not long later we noticed a Doe and a skippy working their way up the hill. I pointed them out to Riley and he gave me the green light even though there were no antlers. As they made their way up the hill they came to a point where if they went lright they would be out of range, straight would put them at 25 yards and left would put them at point blank range. I had told myself I was going to shoot the first one that gave me an opportunity. As luck would have it the deer went straight and the skippy drew the short straw by giving me the first opportunity. To make things even better it was a button buck. So everyone was happy.

If you don't mount it at least get the hide tanned for Riley. Man what a trophy! A euro mount or a hide, or both, will keep the memory alive for him along with the great pics.

Thanks guys. We were pretty excited. I would have never dreamed I would actually get a deer with him. Sometimes things are just meant to be. We celebrated by frying up the tenderloins that night, making our own deer nuggets.
