I was lucky enough to harvest my first trad buck this morning. I had this guy come cruising along and stopped at about 35 yards. He then proceeded to trot by me at about 5 yards under my stand. I bleated at him several ties trying to stop him and finally had to yell HEY! He stopped at about 15yards and I released the arrow. Just before impact my arrow hit a limb and deflected into the top of his neck. I was sick to my stomach watching him run off with an arrow sticking out of his neck. I waited about a hour got down out of my stand and called my buddy to help me track him. I found blood at the impact site and went to the last place I saw him and had a lot of blood. 300 yards later I found by buck. I am dang lucky to have recovered this buck. I used a 45lb Omega Original Longbow, a 400 spine ICS bowhunter carbon arrow with a 100 grain brass insert and a VPA 175 grain penetrator broad head. Thanks for all who have helped me on this website, there are a lot of helpful people on here and I appreciate al the advice and feedback. I wish I could have made the perfect lung or heart shot, but sometimes it is better to lucky than good. Thanks for looking.
