At 3:45pm yesterday evening I got settled in to a stand that my buddy and I just hung about 2 weeks ago in a creek bottom. The spot is in a good transition area between bedding and food but is also a nice funnel and pinch point in a deep valley. I saw a nice 10 point around 5:10 but he was 60 yards away and not interested in grunt calls or rattling. He was on a mission! I was a litte discouraged but at 520, this button buck worked in to 19 yards and gave me a perfect broadside shot.
I drew the bow. anchored. and focused right behind the shoulder. I released and all felt right but the arrow struck about 2 inches forward of where I wanted. He only went 40 yards and was down almost within sight. He actually fell into a creek full of water.
Upon cleaning I found the broadhead broke the shoulder and took both lungs but stopped and kicked back when contacting the off shoulder.

This is my 2nd deer this season and although small, will make a great eater. My goal is to shoot 5 deer this year and hopefully a quality buck.
Shot with:
58" Big Jim Thunderchild
52 lbs @ 28" (I draw 27")
29" GT trad 3555's with 50 grain brass and 150 grain woodsman heads
Thanks for reading.
