I got up a little late this morning, alarm didn't go off. Got up and ready, got out the door and down the road a little, then realized I forgot my hood. Went back to the house on;y to realize I did have it. I then started back ut to the woods. Got out there, the sun was about to come up, wanted to be there about 30-45min. ealier. Got out and started rubbing the camo paint on and another hunter pulled up. We talked a little and he said, "I'll wear the orange on the way out." I thought u only had to wear that when guns were in the woods. He took the map out to point out that it was the sart of shotgun only youth season also. i don't have a vest only a hat, so I have to miss out today. Good luck to all those that get this opportunity. Hope u all do well.
I made it out. But I really wasn't hunting more like enjoying Opening morning sitting in the woods. I had my bow with me incase a stray got to close, but I knew the deer were going to move across the draw from where I was at. Sure enough @ about 8 there was something big on the road about 500yrds away. Picked up my binos and saw a doe and her fawn, then a buck came out, then another and another. They were all good bucks but that last one is the one I am going to be concentrating on the rest of the year. Just glad to make it out opening morning and see what is in store for me the rest of the season. Good luck to all.
That's not so bad. I spent this morning ( Ohio's bow opener) in the ER. I was out last night scouting another part of the property I just got permission on an took a stick in my right eye. Figured No biggie Go home and sleep it off. I woke up at 4 this morning to hit the woods. Well my eye was swollen shut and oozing green chit. Corneal abbrasion. Doc says I should be able to see well enough to shoot by the end of the week  I might try monday afternoon though. Who knows, maybe being half blind might actually help my shooting. couldn't hurt it much :knothead:

Missing opening day is a bummer to say the least. I got a letter last week from federal court. Have to report Monday Oct. 1 for jury duty. Yep, the same day as our opener here. So instead of enjoying sunrise in the woods, I will be sitting in federal court house. Good luck to those of you that make it out. dino
I make it out this afternoon. But no acorns where I have my stand and I didn't dress warmly enough. Came home a little after sundown. Saw only woodpeckers.

Missed here too. Still can't pull a hunting weight bow after elbow surgery. Up to 25# without pain, but I was able to do some push ups this morning for the first time.
