Title: I have Trad A.D.D.
Post by: Cavscout9753 on November 02, 2014, 09:23:00 AM
Well I have been shooting long bows a LOT lately. Yesterday I got some 160 grain heads in and mounted them up. Was playing with my JD Berry with them, results were good after some tuning. Then grabbed my Don Dow, some brace and strike plate tunning and they were flying pretty good. Then grabbed my recurves. Red Stag was as I remembered it, didnt bother tunning it to the arrows. Then grabbed the one bow that I didn't really like, the Grizzly. Wow. It seemed faster with the heavier heads. Arrows fly very flat with it! Now, total arrow weight by my math is 500 on the nose, but trajectory is flat even in the 15-20+ meter gap. They hit hard too! So I declared a truce with the Grizzly and set about to set it up properly (something I didn't do out of spite/disappointment before). String puffs, felt below the string grooves, fresh velcro rest, turned an old quicky quiver into a bolt on, and bammo! Now the Grizz and I are getting along great! Still a little louder than my Hill style, but thats to be expected. Arrow flight and aim is a huge confidence booster, and its enjoyable to shoot! Weird. I owe the grizzly an apology, though don't want to give it a big head so I wont say it.

This was just 4 cold shots at 20 meters. I think the new string made quite a bit of difference in things.

Haha sorry. I'm sp used to determining distance in meters since thats the system the army uses. I look at the two as being nearly the same at shorter distances, please mentally replace my "meters" with yards.
