I have only been out one other time this yr. and this buck fallowed my sent trail rite to me , I was on the ground and he caught me moving,(moving my head too quick) he was 20 yds. out coming directly at me rite on my trail I walked in on. 20 min. after I got there.
fast forward to this eve. got off work early enough to get out.
so I took my climber and went back to the same spot, 20 min. later I here one trotting down the hill, he passes about 50-60 yds away and moves off in the derection I just came from.
sure enough he hit my trail and turned and fallowed my sent right to my tree.
he gets to about 3-4 yds.( I can see his big ol eyeballs rolling as hes looking around ), then we lock eyes and ive got my broadhead centered in his forehead waiting for him to bolt. I slid my finger off my arrow and he see's that, and turns and trots out about 20 yds. im already drawing hoping he stops for a look back, and he does.
his mistake.
I couldn't make a full draw, my elbow was against the tree and my lower limb touched my stand, so I just canted a bit more, he stoped and the arrow was off, right where I was looking.
not sure if I short drawed that much or I hit a rib but the arrow didn't penetrate very deep, but I knew I had one lung at least.
he made a mad dash in a straight line, and I thought I heard him crash so I eased down and packed the stand and went to the shot site.

the third tree is the one he poked his head around looking at me.
as I found him about 250 yds. away.

one lung and the heart.

I want to know why you smell so good, and they follow you. They run the other way when they hit my scent trail, unless I am pulling a drag rag.
