About 20 years ago I started to buy my KOM wool, it took a couple of years to get a shirt, pants and coat. I still wear my shirt and pants during our Michigan bow season and add the coat in December but by the time I layer up in November (wool power base and windstoper sweater under the shirt and a vest over) it gets tight in the sleeves. I'm thinking of trying some kuiu. Has anyone owned both? How do you guys layer and stay mobile without a huge pack of clothing going in and out?
I currently own and use both sets of gear. I consider them totally different. I love my KOM for Moose hunting in the Fall and using it during the Winter for variety of things in addition to hunting. I just like wearing the bibs, pants and coats.
I use the Kuiu for mountain hunting ... its for active hiking and fits closer than the KOM. They both have their place and both are great quality.
I use gray wolf wool for stand sitting. I LOVE kuiu for when I'm moving but it is NOT intended for cold weather sedentary hunts. I might actually wear my kuiu tomorrow morning (20 degrees and 3/4 mile hike in) but just to crawl inside my heater body suit.
I think highlife nailed it. The Kuiu stuff if better for mountain hunts where your moving and weight is a factor. Its the opposite with KOM
