Title: Robertson Purist Value
Post by: elkhunter45 on October 31, 2014, 08:29:00 PM
Yesterday I stopped at a gun shop to look at a cc pistol and lo and behold there was a longbow behind the counter. When I asked to see it I discovered it was a nice older Robertson Stykbow Purist with what appears to be Red Elm under clear glass and has a Hill type of wedge grip. The bow was in very good condition showing only minor finish mars and no real dings or such. It is marked 54#@28, but felt lighter than that. My question is what is it worth? He wants $350.00 for it.
Thanks

If the specs worked for me I'd give $350 in a second, those are great longbows...or you could get a new one for $850

That's not an outlandish price for a Purist.  I think somewhere between 250-350 is in the ballpark.  Searching for a deal I would offer 225-250 and haggle on from there.  If you can get it for 275, maybe 300 I would think you had done well.

A bow is worth whatever the prospective buyer wants to pay.
A Robertson is always a great, quality bow with good resale value if you don't like it.
Its an older model, but the Purist shoots as well as the newer Visions and Primal Sticks. A lot of game has fallen to Purist longbows, that's for sure.
I have owned and shot many, still have a Montana Falcon that I wont part with for any money.
If you like it, buy it.

I have a 64" Purist Longbow 58# @ 26" that is my go to bow. It has the connection hinge takedown feature. I bought it used for $450. If you like the bow, buy it dude ! The Robertsons are great folks. I got a chance to shoot with Yote at the TBOF shoot a few years ago...great guy !
