Title: Photobucket lesson learned....the hard way.
Post by: monkeyball on October 28, 2014, 07:22:00 AM
I just wanted to let everyone know that if you ever go into your images and clean them out, as in "delete", not only are they gone but they are also removed from any topics or threads you may have used them in.

I was not realizing that last night as I was "cleaning" up my account. Just an FYI for those of you that may not have known this either.

Photobucket has always posted a warning to this effect when you press the delete button. Here is the one on there right now. It doesn't mention websites but since the website accesses photobucket I understood it to mean it was gone for good from everywhere.

"Delete media

Deleting this image means it's gone for good! All related print orders, slideshows and Stories will also be affected.

Are you sure you want to permanently delete 'IMG_2202_zpsd81dde02'?"

Is there a better way to post images here or easier?

I think the problem is going to be the same regardless of what photo hosting site you use. I like keeping my pictures in folders so I can find them. Move one to a different folder and any links you had on your Trad Gang posts are now hosed.

I've often offered to post pics for guys wanting to list items in the classifieds, but warn them that once their item sells or the ad is deleted, I will also delete the pic from my "temporary" folder. Otherwise I wind up with a ton of pics in my "bucket" that are of no use to me and just use up my space.

If there's a better way to post pics, I'd like to hear it.

Yeah, that's one thing that annoys the crap out of me about people who use photobucket. I lost count how many times I've come across a forum post while researching a topic and all the relevant photos are gone because they moved or removed them in their photobucket account.

I'm always sure to place pics in folders so I don't have to clear anything out. I use flickr, but I'm sure the same thing would happen if I moved or deleted my pictures.

By clicking on photobucket attached image, it sounds like photobucket may be able to capture information  from anyone that opens an image on your/our posts.

Gone from where you linked them if you move them within folders within your Photobucket account, too.

What do you want for free?
