The bow I ordered from Mike arrived today. Very prompt service. I don't know how to post pics; maybe my wife can later. It's nice, but very different in style from what I'm used to. Very slim riser, seems smaller than 17", but that's what it is. Just doesn't have the bulk of my old-school Mentors. It was no problem to string, despite the static tips. I need to get the brass nock off of the string, so I'm off to get nock pliers soon (I don't use them so don't have any). I also need to get a couple of CX 250 shafts; I tried a 30" (might be 29.75", had them a while and don't shoot them) 150 w/ 125 point and it's not even close, as Mike predicted. It has a very different feel on the draw. It does seem to get easier at the back; very unusual. I like the grip. It seems to put my hand in place and keep it there. Feels a lot like the aftermarket machined grips I used to put on my target wheelie bows. Neutral, for sure. I was surprised to see that the string for it comes from the guy I used to get my strings from, Michael Harbison, of Bayou Traditional Archery, down south of me. Good on you, Mike, glad to see you are doing well. Overall, nicely made bow, limbs fit very well, not flashy but very businesslike and functional. Exactly what I was looking for. Service was A-One.
It's going to be something in .400 spine. All the local shop had was a 2216, so at 29" with 200 grain point it bare shafted well, but a little stiff. 29.5 to 30" would be just about right. The bow is very quiet.

Thanks. Preliminary results show maybe a 30" 2117 (all they had was 2216, same difference) will be the ticket. I'm liking aluminum more than carbon these days. I need to order an EFA quiver for it, get it set up just like I will shoot it before I go any further with arrow buying. I haven't shot a bow that needed that much spine in a very long time.
A Dryad Orion has been my "go to" bow for the past six years... Great bows!
I don't own one yet but have shot a couple of them. They shot very well. Mike and John run a good program. I'll soon have to own one of their bows.
Is it the ACS? My wife pulls about 29" on her 42#@28" ACS, her arrows are .400" spine cut to 31.5" with 220gr up front if that helps any to figure out your arrows.
Do you mean the ACS limb, the high-end recurve limb? Yes, it is. Mike was pretty sure it would be a .400 spine, or something real close, and that looks to be correct so far. I don't draw that long (as your wife), but it is a fifty pound limb. Based on the point weight that seems to bare shaft pretty well on this 2216, I'd say I'm going to go with 2117s at 30" and play with point weight. I want a heavy arrow, but not too heavy, so I might end up trying a CX 250, too. I like something around ten to eleven gpp, usually. I'd go down to nine gpp on a very quiet bow. I shoot instinctively, so the flatter trajectory helps to keep me from having high and low misses on longer shots, though I wouldn't really care to shoot longer than about 25 yards in the woods. I like to shoot out to forty in my yard.
