I thought it would be fun to start a update thread on the rutt. Its nearing that magical time we all look forward to and. it would be cool to hear where and when its pickin up. Here in michigan had a couple little guys semi chasein this past saturday and were respondin to the grunt a little and a few scrapes
I've heard fighting a couple times, and seen chasing a couple times. Can't wait for more.
Had a nice eight point come in this morning with a few does but not showing much Interest
Finding a few scrapes, but nothing else. Jeff
Sorry for the lousy pic (ISO3200 at first light). Watched this guy this morning; he was getting interested in the girls. Saw two other bucks with the ladies, too.

Deer are moving here. My hunting partner saw 2 bucks and a doe this morning.
Had a 2.5 year old buck dogging a doe Monday.
warm temps this weekend may put a hold on movement here

On Monday I was on stand (in the wrong spot) when two does crossed above me. Feeding around for 20 minutes. Twenty minutes later a small buck came up the same trail and was feeding for a while when the two does came back through from the other direction. The buck showed no interest in them at all. One of the does even came over to him and for a few seconds they were nose to nose. He then fed out of the area and the does continued to entertain me for another 30 minutes before I lost sight of them.
The smirfs are staring to display some unwelcome passion in my locale.
I found 15 fresh scrapes on my morning still hunt. Also saw, at least, 2 bucks up moving mid-day.
Definitely the time to be in the woods!
The forest floor was damp and it was cool today.
Good luck!
Bucks chasing Does here, great time to be in the woods!!
Had a spike nose to the ground tail up trotting along the same path a doe took 7-8 min earlier. Think he caught up to her, heard a single blow way off in the direction they both went.
Found some rubs and a scrape. Won't be long now, except for the 80 degree temps need to stop.
Had three does to the right side of my stand at just under 10 yards and couldn't get a shot. Watched them for 15 minutes when a young 4 point came charging in like his tail was on fire. The does scattered and he stood under my right side of my stand for about 3 minutes watching them as they strolled back up the side of the ridge and disappeared. Then he too slowly followed them. Couldn't get shot at any of them. :banghead:
The bucks are making scrapes and rubs here. It's been hot. I haven't seen any chasing yet. Cool front is supposed to be here later in the week. So hopefully the action will heat up.
Heard the crashing through the woods behind me this morning - sure enough a doe comes running by at 10-15yds except this time it's a mature 8 hot on the trail. Looks like it's starting to heat up.
Got bucks cruising every day. Going to hunt for the first time tomorrow morning. It's cooling off.

We reached 91 deg near Wichita yesterday! Shattered a 120 yr old record. I stayed out of the tree this weekend. Plan to head out Tue evening
Some scraping and has been for a couple of weeks. Bucks are showing some interest in grunting. Arrowed a small six pointer that came in to a series of grunts
Wiley Coyote,
Good on ya man!
