Title: Omegas On Fire In NC!
Post by: huskyarcher on October 20, 2014, 12:14:00 PM
Thought I might share some success that me and my hunting buddy Ethan Henson (hensone) have shared here in NC. We had a rough first week or two, as I busted a does shoulder to no avail, and he slick missed a big ol' nannie. But shortly, we have found all the practice and hard work from the summer to be paying off.

Ol' Henson struck first, scoring his first ever trad deer kill on some of his property:

Ethan has come from not even being able to hit a block target consistently, to busting knocks while shooting groups, all in about a year! A lot of help from TG definatley was involved.

After this, I really got blood thirsty, and the next evening found me sitting on some property that we landed do to crop damage sustained from deer. I sat there for a grand total of maybe 10 minutes, and found myself looking at a hoss of a doe at 10 yards. Here was the result:

I continued our hot streak on Thursday night, while hunting on another crop damage control, I found another Donkey-doe at about 15 yds this time. The result was right-similar. Love my Omega.

So after I put two down quick, Ethan once again caught the fever, and Friday morning found us in another hot spot. About 8:15 he put his Omega Native to work again, this time on film. She did her job as usual and we happened upon this about 40 yards from the stand:

All over the county, I grew up here, so I am fortunate enough to know a lot of people. 1 of those actually came from a spot in the town of Blowing Rock. Believe it or not, theyre more eat up in deer than we are in Ashe lol.

Excellent! Both of you are making great shots, too. They look to be quick, clean kills.

I grew up here also.....most of the land is leased out now. Its hard and harder to find a place to hunt.

Yep, getting to be more prevalent as land owners realize they can make money. Luckily, Ive gotten to know a lot of tree farmers and pumpkin/strawberry farmers and they bring me in to thin them out. Mutual benefits, best seller in finding permission I have found.

Good shooting Dalton, I just got back from Florida and I guess it is time to do a little thinning ourselves. I usually start hunting about this time of the year. I did not know that about Blowing Rock.
