Title: DIY bow bag
Post by: rb61 on October 16, 2014, 10:04:00 PM
I have been looking for a bow bag that will carry a 66" one piece strung recurve. There doesn't seem to be very many to choose from.

Has anyone made one? What type of material and padding did you use?

Thanks,

Ray

Teresa Asbell at Hunter Image makes a nice one.  I have a couple from her - one fleece and another made from wool.

I bought a padded snowboard case from Sierra Trading Post on closeout. Works great for bows. Full zip, acc. pocket, will hold a couple bows easy. Paid about $20.

My wife made me a case, she used cheap denim cloth.  It looks like a sleeping bag with no zipper on the side, just an opening at the top.  It works well to protect the bow when I travel to the farm I hunt.

A large fishing rod tube like a Plano works sweet and is more sturdy than a clothe bag.  Just another option.  I did not think a "curve" would fit but surprisingly is fits quite nicely.

Thanks for the ideas.

We (my wife) are sewing one made from Cordura and 1/2" Foam padding. It appears that it may end up looking like a sleeping bag.It will have a handle but I am sure it will stay in the car and be used only for transport.

I think the total fabric/foam cost was approximately $15

Thanks again
