Title: New Trad Archer
Post by: RedRidge on October 15, 2014, 10:59:00 PM
Just wanted to introduce my self. My name is Connor and currently live in west Tx. The military has me here now, but most of my hunting occurs back home in TN.  I have been lurking for quite sometime now and finally made the decision to buy my first recurve. I have had it for a few months now and am really enjoying it. I have been a compound shooter for the last 11 years and love the challenge trad archery presents. I currently own a Samick Sage 40lb and so far I think I am picking it up pretty well. I have been shooting almost every day and look forward to hunting with it back home. Looking forward to being a part of tradgang and learning from everyone here.    :archer2:

Welcome, brother.

Keep it light and fun.

Get a mentor to shoot with and practice daily.

When I started, I enjoyed shooting and talking with other more experienced stickbow shooters.

One day I decided that shooting lessons from a pro would cost me about the same as a good boe (give or take)

I searched a few coach/instructor pros and chose Rick Welch.

It built my confidence like no other thing in the trad world.

Someday....consider it for yourself.

You are at the world's best traditional site with a tremendous world of knowledge right at your fingertips.

All these dedicated folks will help ya.

Congrats!

Another Welcome from OK! And thank you for your service!

Stationed in west Texas, huh? Wouldn't happen to be at Ft. Bliss, would ya? That's where I did my AIT.

Some things that have helped me to be a better shooter: Terry's "Form Clock" thread in the "Shooter's Form" forum, and Moebow's YouTube videos.

Again, welcome to the 'Gang!

Legends1: I am from the east TN area but lived in Clarksville for about a year. Good hunting out that way.

Fattony: Spot on. Not a lot to hunt out here except jack rabbits!

Connor, You'd get REALLY good if you hunt scorpions and vinegaroons (sp.)! Lol. Lots of shot opportunities, too!

Not to hijack your thread, but what's your MOS? I was 14T.
