Earlier in the week I missed an eight point from my ground blind. That was one of the holes in my mesh window. The second hole wasn't a miss.
:campfire: :coffee:
I've hunted turkeys from the ground blind but never deer. I've also taken several deer from the ground while still hunting/stalking... but never from a pop up blind.
I think my miss was due to the unusual position I found myself in when shooting. I had practiced from inside the blind, but some set ups are a bit different.
Two deer came in and I tried to pick the larger of the two. Both were does. They seemed to be about the same size, so I picked the one that offered me the best angle... quartering away.
I drew, picked my spot and released. The arrow hit right where I was looking. The deer went 15 yards and piled up.

:clapper: Great job!!
Congratulations! Shooting tbrouhh the mesh screws me up. It throws my judge of distance off.
Wayne, I got hooked on blind hunting a few years ago. I do not have none out now. I am looking into building some to leave out all year long.
Thanks all!
Tim: check out the blinds that "Bisch" builds. The thread is on page 1 and entitled "GROUND BLINDS".
Congrats!
Wow, outstanding job! Congrats on your from the ground doe!
Sweet !
Congratulations! I enjoy hunting from my ground blind, but I have also yet to take one from it with my trad equipment.
Please submit some pics from an outside view of your setup from the different angles of which you expect the deer to approach?
Nice once you start hunting from the ground it gets addicting! Congrats on the doe :clapper:
Congratulations Wayne on a fine bow shot...and for properly placing and setting up your ground blind so as not to spook the local whitetails or cause them to shy away from it. I'ed like to see a picture of your ground blind and how you set it up.
Congrats! Good shooting!
I'll get some pics up for those of you that want to see the setup.
Congratulations! I also would like to see your setup. I use popups for turkeys, but have never tried one for deer.

Way to go fnshtr! I'm going to try a pop up blind this year as well. How long in advance do you feel the blind must be set up and unused before the deer become accustomed to it being there?
I'm thinking that this year is going to be especially tough because the mast crop is so good where I hunt. Most of the white oaks are dripping acorns and it is really hard to pattern the deer. They don't really have to look hard to find their favorite food right now so they don't seem to be moving a lot. Any advise or pointers would be greatly appreciated.
Congrats on a nice doe, good shooting

Ga.boy: I was squirrel hunting with the bow before deer season came in and as I slipped around I noticed deer hitting a particular stand of white oaks. As you say... they were dropping everywhere but the deer seemed to prefer these two or three oaks that were together.
I set my blind up where two trails led to those oaks. I set it up about 4 days in advance of using it and only went to it when the evening thermals started down hill. I did very little brushing in of the blind... just let them get used to it.
When I get a chance I'll get some pics and start a new thread on how I set it up.
Good luck all!
Congratulations!
way to go !!!!!

Nice job doesn't get any better than that..congrats!
Congrats!!
Good For You!
