Last night, after three months of really dailing in with my Thunderhorn longbow, I picked up my Bruin recurve and my BW PSA - was amazed at how I was able to accurately place arrows in the kill zone from 20-30 yards with no warm up.
Is this because I shoot the same arrows from each of my bows and that they are all around the same draw weight? What really impressed me was once again how dang quiet my Bruin recurve is. out of the three (and my Thunderhorn is a long bow) it is definitely the quietest. I put it right next to my Berry Vixen on overall quietness.
Anyways, was wondering how many others shoot mutliple animals each year with different bows? I am struggling on whether to continue with my Thunderhorn (which took a doe opening morning) or grabbing my Bruin when I head out this weekend.
ANd then there is my brand new Taipan that is just waiting to get some attention..... ah choices :biglaugh:
Use whatever you are confident with. Be it one,or 10. I like my A&H 1-piece best of all my bows. Me and that bow just click. When hunting deer,I use it because I can confidently shoot it at 20 yards to kill game. Now I always use my Centaur for Turkey. Works good in the blind, and that bow really just enjoys shooting gobblers. rat'
I am guilty--life is too short to shoot only one bow! :biglaugh:
I will pick up either of my Sky's for either hunting or going to the range or I may just pull out my Grandfathers 69' Bear Grizzly.
Since they shoot equally well for you, just grab whichever one suits your fancy at the moment.
I like switching bows it's just more fun that way for me. I shoot them all well and they'll all do the job. It just depends on which one I happen to like on any given day.
I have three recurves and one long bow. Since getting the long bow my recurves have been neglected!
I shoot multiple: to keep my strength up on the Manchu, to practice form on my horn bow, and my Micmac bow for work on my release since it's the lightest draw. I strive for flexibility anyway, and this seems to be the best way to achieve it.
I usually shoot three or four bows during the course of the fall. It's not unusual to hunt with a different bow in the afternoon than I hunted with in the morning. All of my bows are fairly close in weight as are the arrows so they pretty much shoot the same.
I hunt much like Orion. I've shot deer with as many as 4 different bows in a season. Longbows, recurves, whatever feels right for that day. I'm going to use my old Herter's for a while this year than probably switch to my Howatt Monterey, Bear takedown, and then one of my home built longbows as the season wears on. My problem lately is that I have more bows than I have days to hunt. :(
I just received a new riser and switched my hunting limbs over to it. A also went to aluminum arrows at the same time. The first time shooting it was a transition period but now after shooting it three times this week, I am fine with the changes.
I shoot many different bows going out to my yard I'll have at least 3 and just shoot each one I love it! hutning it might not be a good idea and I really think it messes me up a little.
we had a saying 20yrs ago to "fear the man who owns one bow" every person I shot against when I competed in trad only shoots who pretty much always shot the same darn bow ALWAYS shot very high scores.
I stay with one, just something I have always done
Right now I am shooting a widow recurve and a few different longbows. I shoot the widow the best and have the most confidence with it so I keep telling myself to leave the longbows alone till I get a deer down with the widow. But I just love shooting those dang longbows.
One for me. But there is nothing wrong with changing things up.
