Title: What I do when early season is over
Post by: elkken on October 09, 2014, 09:01:00 PM
I like to head back up in the Cascade Mountains after the early season is over … the fall has been beautiful this year. My bride and I took a six mile hike last week in the Cascades and were treated to mountain goats, bugling elk and beautiful scenery.

That goat photo is awesome. I was at a shoot in Mass. one time and they had a target set up exactly like that.

Beautiful pics Ken! Was just up with a buddy of mine who was rifle hunting, I went along for the ride, on the western side of the Cascades here in Oregon. Love being in those mountains.

It was new ankles Izzy, one last year in July and the other one this May ... it was total ankle replacement. Turned out very well. I over did it this Sept trying to dove hunt, deer hunt and elk hunt all in two weeks so I had to take a break and cool it a bit. This outing was to test my recovery and reaffirm I can do this again ... it was a great trip.... my wife had never heard an elk bugle in the wild and we had a bull that was bugling his head off for us. I had brought a bugle just in case so he and I went at it for at least half an hour before we needed to head back to my truck before dark. Mount Rainier was looking good at sunset.

I'm ready Jack ... I figure I need to add some new Cabela stores to my list.

It is great to be walking mostly pain free, it has been 21 years of tough going but now it's time for onward and upward. I need to hook up with some of my Trad Gang friends for a hunt or two
