I always take a judo shot before getting out of the stand. I always make sure no deer are near but before dark I wonder if this gives my position away. Do you guys shoot or not? Bill
I always wait until I get back to camp before I take a shot. At my age, I'd probably fall down and break something if I started hitting the bottle while I was still up in the tree.
Yep, or if I'm bored on stand, or right when I get up set up. But one is almost always shot
I used to take a shot in the AM before I climbed down and one in the afternoon at the beginnings of hunts (where I don't expect a deer to walk).
I don't where I hunt now because of too many rocks. I hate destroying arrows on anything but my quarry.
You betcha. I carry two blunts and ALWAYS shoot the before leaving the stand. And I may not wait until getting ready to climb down.
When still hunting I shoot even more.
frequently I'll shoot a judo when I first get in the stand for a evening hunt. And in the Am I'll shoot just when it's time to get down...
Practice, practice practice;
sure do
I always take a shot before i get down. Could be anythime im in the stand. I usually have something catch my eye like a stump ot leaf and i just have to shoot at it.
I do this also :archer2:
Every time.
I do.
Only off a barstool....sorry, couldn't resist a little "waterhole" humor!

Yep, or I did when I climbed more. Felt it was essential to stay sharp; the lay of the land varies for every stand.
Count me in as well. Every sit, shot my judo from the stand for practice.
I carry 2 arrows with field points and shoot them both to different spots, sometimes when getting in stand or before getting out.
No. I try to be as silent and invisible as I possibly can. I don't want to make any noise that I don't have to. I may want to use that stand again soon, and the commotion of shooting and retrieving the arrow is something I don't want.
YES
Yes, usually shoot 1 or 2 sometime during sit or just before getting down. I have had deer come in many times just after doing this.
Bowwild X 2
I carry a back quiver with 4 broad heads and 5 or 6 rubber blunts,. I hang the quiver from a hook about waist high and will shoot all the blunts before getting down
Yes!
Always at the end of my sit.
It's the most realistic practice you can get! Your in your stand you have your hunting clothes on safety vest etc..... It's also a,good, way to discover any unforeseen issues. I then stump a little on the way back to my truck.
Sometimes
Always, in fact I have to fight the urge to shoot more practice arrows while on stand....
Yep. I do as well !
I do.
At the end of the sit.
I like to check my accuracy.
It's just good practice.
I usually carry one or two field point arrows for this.
Yes, I usually do, too. I usually pick a target along my exit route so I don't smell up the area any more than usual.
Yes before getting down. It's good practice .
Never have.
