So I've been using the leather dura glove from 3 rivers for a couple years now. Between finger sweat and wet weather its starting to stink pretty bad like vinegar. How would I go about washing it? Also should I be putting some kind of leather polish on it every once in a while? Thanks
Get some saddle soap. Work it into a lather and with a sponge or cloth scrub the glove inside and out as good as possible.
After it soaks in good (should happen pretty quickly) wipe off the excess. After it dries apply Mink Oil or Lexol or even Neats Foot Oil. Work it in good... the Lexol and Neatsfoot oil are liquid and soak right in.
Once again wipe off excess and you are all set.
I treat all of my leather stuff the same way before I ever use it and periodically after that.
Farm and home stores are good places to get the leather treatment products.
Water and leather aren't a good mix. Try Charlie's method. I have a product from a tack shop called Bic 4 that is good too.
