After a 15+/- year break, tomorrow will mark my return to the deer woods with recurve.
I found a choke point where three trails converge and turn. Two trees 15 yards out allow me a stand sight.
In a last minute scout today, I found two early scrapes and droppings near by. Too early for real scrapes but I find these early ones just after antlers are rubbed and the first real cool weather hits.
I would like to say that I am holding out for a decent buck, but never having taken a deer with the recurve, a mature doe at 15 yards could be on receiving end of a Zwickey.
How did my fellow PA guys do yesterday?
Good luck. Welcome back.
Scroll down and read the "Pa opener....finally." thread.
Good Shooting,
Craig
Have fun be safe and shoot straight
Going out again tomorrow morning so long as the rain has cleared off. Passed on a small doe on Monday so I am hoping that karma will reward me tomorrow. Maybe not, but it was so much fun to sit in the tree with the recurve any way.
Of course that why it is called "hunting" and not "harvesting" deer.
Hey, best to you! I had a four year break from bowhunting, and it is so good to be haunting the bush with a longbow again.
Glad for you. I've spent too much of my life not hunting, hope you relish every moment in the woods and fields.
This is my first year back after 17 years good luck to you
It seems that the recurve may be bringing me better luck this year. This morning I spend 30 minutes watching an 8 point feeding at 40 yards.
I could not get him to respond to calls to save my life. Still nice to watch such a nice deer for so long.
I know he is in the area and he was not disturbed by me.
