Title: Limbs taking on water
Post by: Medic85 on October 04, 2014, 03:28:00 PM
Hey guys I noticed while hunting in the rain yesterday that almost every inch of my glass was taking on moisture.  Its an 02 Mamba so it has a bit of age on it.  Should I be worried and is there any way of resealing the glass.  Thanks in advance guys.

Getting the water out will be the first issue. You can't afford to trap any moisture under the sealant. I would call Martin or Bow Hospital for a recommendation. The wrong finish will not flex and may be damaging to the bond between lams.

Is the finish gone off the bow?    :dunno:   That bow should not soak up water. Let it dry well, seal it with Deft, or poly or even Tru-oil. Then wax it just like you would your car.

I was with him when it was happening..basically the finish was absorbing moisture and getting all cloudy all over the bow.  Being a 2002 I bet it was some kinda polyurethane and not a current quality level hardened epoxy.  I'm thinking either he needs to do like Ron said and let it dry out, do a partial refinish at home and just keep it heavily waxed, or worst case maybe a professional refinish with something up to date to really insure against any future issues.  Was great hunting with you bro!  Rain or not fortune favors the bold!!
