Title: LBR and the rest of tradgang.
Post by: DanielB89 on October 03, 2014, 09:46:00 AM
I found this site a few years ago after I had built my first bow.  I was looking for some like minded people I could learn from.  Little did I know it would turn into what it has.

This "campfire" has been one of the best of my life.  I will leave out a few people here, but thanks are in order.

First off,

LBR, you have helped me more than you will know with trad archery and ESPECIALLY building strings.  If you have ever spoke to Chad , you will know he has the slightest accent..        also that he loves traditional archery, but especially with helping others to learn to build a great bowstring.  I will ask for something and it will be in the mail that day BEFORE I EVEN PAY HIM!!

Thank you chad.

Now to "tradgang".  As many of you know, my nephews have been living with me due to circumstances that their parents have made poor decisions.  Well I posted my first post a couple of months ago about them and received a few "whats your address" emails.  Well, Mike G gave them some BEAUTIFULLY crafted leather arm guards, people have donated bows for them, etc.  And most recently I posted an ad in the classified that my nephews were looking for some arrows and THEY were buying them with the money THEY have worked for.

Well a few guys(Modr and Bretto) contacted me and said that they had a "few" arrows they wanted to give them boys, they would NOT accept any form of payment, and the only thing is that I have to "pay it forward".  And i promise I will! Btw, a "few" arrows is equal to 5 dozen.

Who does that?  Who donates stuff when people have the money to pay for it?  These weird people here, which is why I intend to stick around for a while, that is if Terry doesn't kick me out!

There are SEVERAL others i could mention here.  Know that me and especially my nephews are thankful beyond words.  They have never had much in life, but thanks to this place and the 'gang, they have archery and love it.

Daniel

Hey Daniel, 2 things, the first of which I think I've said before, but just to reiterate, GOOD ON YOU for what you are doing for those boys! They'll be better grown ups and more than likely make the world a better place because of your selflessness. Secondly, did you really expect anything less from "the gang"? The level of generosity here never ceases to amaze me. I hope to be in a position in the not so distant future that I can live up to some of the examples here. My heart's in the right place most of the time now...if I can just get my boys through college so that my pocketbook can follow it  :)

I was about to jump on and help the kids out with some arrows, but figured someone already beat me to it - glad I was right!

It's not easy affording everything you need right out of college, but the guys on this site and others always seem to go out of their way to help.

Lots of great guys around here.    :campfire:

I couldn't agree more... TradGanger's are definitely the most thoughtful and generous folks I've ever "met".

Chad helped me get started with string making, too.  His enthusiasm for trad archery is awesome and his willingness to help is a trait you don't encounter often enough these days.

You are correct.  He also makes things right, that weren't his fault.  SEVERAL TIMES there would be some difference in the material and he would just send me another roll, no questions asked.
