Welcome!!!
:wavey:
Thanks Terry!
Glad to be taking it to the next level.
Howdy Folks,
Some of you already know a bit about me but plenty do not.
I am a full-time firefighter/EMT for my day job, but my motivating passion is fine art. I am a trained painter/sculptor and earned my BFA from the University of Miami in 2007.
I have been slowly but steadily working on my art career alongside other endeavors like the fire service and pursuing goals of raising a happy and healthy family.
My primary medium is painting and I traditionally paint large non-figuritive abstract paintings, typically in the neighborhood of 60 x 72". I have shown my work in galleries in Miami and Tallahassee and currently have the goal to expand further.
The road to a successful career as an artist is a long journey that requires patience, inspiration, and perseverance.
This all ties in to traditional archery because recently I have been inspired to try and blend my style of abstract painting with traditional archery and bowhunting themes. I have some neat ideas in the works and want to start sharing these creations with the members of Tradgang. There are few other interests/hobbies I have pursued with such fervor as trad bowhunting and I am really excited to use trad as a muse to see what creations I can come up with. It will be a nice outlet and will no doubt help enhance my non-traditional archery themed works as well.
Stay tuned, I will hopefully be offering up a catalog of works for the enjoyment of TG sometime before this current year is up. Working on a group of paintings right now in my spare time.
Art is the highest expression of the human spirit and I just want to do my part to keep folks excited about art and excited about traditional bowhunting in the 21st Century.
Glad to be part of this great place.
-Chuck

Best of luck with it Chuck! If you treat your art with the same detail that you do your bows, we should be in for a treat!
Very cool. Good luck!
Chuck,I figured out you were just a bloody lefty bowhunter,LOL.
I can wait to see your art work,I am a fine art and antique dealer, for 3 generations.
Congrats on taking the leap. Hopefully we can keep you from becoming a starving artist :biglaugh:
Wow! I only knew you as the lefty that is out to buy every bow on the planet, haha! best of luck.
Chuck, can't wait to see what you come up with.
Chuck,
I wish you the best of luck in your art business. Hopefully you get so busy you won't have time to cruise the classifeds and some of us will get a chance at some good lefty bows. LOL
Keep those bow reviews coming.
Good luck.

I thought for sure this thread would announce a used bow shop full of left handed bows that I can't shoot. ;) you are full of surprises! Will you be posting any examples?
cool, good luck. Looking forward to seeing some of your work as well.
Thanks for all the kind words folks!
I know its a tease to not offer a preview, but with the way my painting works with the many layers of addition and subtraction, the initial and middle phases of a work can actually look radically different from the finished product. I want to make a strong first impression and feel the finished paintings will best achieve this. The process is a lot of fun and it's different and therapeutic to approach trad archery from an angle that doesn't involve shooting but rather internal reflections.
As it stands here is a sample of my NON- archery or bowhunting themed work. This is a painting which sold to an individual in Texas earlier this year entitled "Paso Doble":

Stay tuned! ;)
Sounds cool looking forward to the first "showing" :) Wrote this from page one...didn't see the sample on page 2. Seems there's a lot more going on there than most of us will probably ever appreciate. However, you definitely have an eye for color and abstract "symmetry" (if that's not a total oxymoron) IMO. Not an expert by any means, but did letter in art 4 x's in HS and was a bit of a pencil / pen and ink guy many years ago. Enough to give me an appreciation for most forms of art. Really looking forward to the archery themed stuff. Get one in the right colors and it wouldn't surprise me if one ended up hanging above my couch at some point.
Obviously, a man of many talents. A bold move Chuck, much like that sample of your work.
Best of luck, I bet you'll do well.
Chuck, you've been holding out on us !
