Title: The tree sadle
Post by: JesseS on September 27, 2007, 07:04:00 PM
I just bought the tree saddle but have not used it yet. Im sure you guys will have some advice for me. Do you use 4 screw in pegs? Seems like there would be a faster way. I was thinking of trying climbing spikes but not sure how comfortable it would be on a long hunt.

My friend made a strap on set of pegs to put his feet on once he is at the height he wants.
You have to buy 4 to 6 strap on steps, take them apart and end up with all the steps on one strap.

He uses the hang on ladder sections for ascending the tree.

Where do you buy on of these tree saddles?  I am thinking that with all of the oak trees here in S. TX that might be a good option.

I like the idea of 4 steps strapped together. I will try that thanks. Climbing spikes seem like a good way to go but I have not yet tried it so do let me know. Then I would be totally mobile. Just find a tree climb right up and strap on the 4 in one pegs and thats it. No carrying stands or ladders. The saddle is very light to wear.I think I will put it on before I even go into the woods. I bought min at the sportsmans warehouse but I thing any large sporting goods store will carry it. I paid $189.00 OUCH.
