Title: 2013 Kodiak BH?
Post by: Weasel on September 27, 2014, 12:10:00 PM
I searched the archives, but didn't find the topic.

Just bought a new Bear Kodiak modeled after the 59er. I know that Bear recommends a BH between 7" and 8", but am wondering what you new Kodiak owners ended up with. I've had one person say 8-3/8".

Thanks!

Jerry

I braced my 2014 Bear Kodiak right at 7&1/4",shoots great there nice and quiet.I did make up a new 8 strand Ultra Cam string, loops padded to 16 strands. The factory string the loop ends were way too large in my opinion. The new Bear Kodiak  is not a wide limb recurve as most other recurves.I think the 16 strand factory is kind of overkill. It is a sweet shooting bow in my opinion, love the looks and style!

Yeah, I totally understand that. Just curious what others have found. I find it gives me a good starting point. I had a few minutes to try it out yesterday as the whole weekend has been taken up by family obligations. Strung up right out of the box at 7-1/2", no nock point as the tape didn't want to stick to the serving, I shot five, two arrow groups at an 8" circle at 15 paces. The groups were between 1/4" and 2" with every arrow in the circle. I've had two replies here of 7-1/4" and 7-5/8", so now I feel 7-1/2" will be close. Thank you for your replies!
