I have been a member of this site since around 04. Prior lurker. I'm here allot. I keep hearing about Charlie Lamb the member. I had made a post last years some time asking who he is and what he has done. I didn't get any response.
So could someone please tell me who he is? What he has done for traditional archery or archery in general, that he is always is high praise?
I understand some of the big name on here n who they are. But for the life of me don't know mr Lamb, is he a trad gang hero or has he done something great or invented something to do with it? Please enlighten me so I can understand where guys are comming from when speaking of him and being a legend as I have never heard of him outside this we site. Please know this is no disrespect. Thanks
:campfire:
Ok fellas bring em' on.... And post pics too! There's some good ones out there...
This is going to get good. I love a Lamb story
Chris
I think you can say "Charlie's been there and done that", and he got to do some of that with folks that many of us would have loved to have met.

If you have been on this site since 2004, then you should know who he is. He has posted some great tales on here of his exploits, writer, archer, storyteller and hunter extaorninair. He has written a book about his life as a bowhunter and it is a great read.
Like Danny said and I posted on your last thread when you asked the same thing but I guess you missed that too. I will see if I can find it for you.
Tracy
All I know is he can talk about hunting with Fred Bear.
That got my attention.
I believe he raises sheep... :dunno:
On this site, asking who Charlie Lamb is, is like asking Where's Waldo in a room all by himself! :biglaugh:
I think I saw him one time, just a fleeting glimpse thru the brush, pretty good size from the track... :D
He's a LEGEND :readit: also a heck of a story teller
Anyone know where I can get a copy of his book? I love his writing.
ok..sorry.
I guess my attempt at humor wasn't taken the way I intended.
I meant no offense.
I apologize.
Now that was funny!!
All I know is what I've read here. He has a way of telling his tales that really bring you in. Accounts from others all agree he is the epitome of the trad archer snd the mentality that goes with it. Ethical, clean, respectful, well spoken. A good one for the crowd
His book was great!
I believe you've said it well Brian.

I really like that style of bibs on Charlie!
Heres one little story
http://tradgang.com/noncgi/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=86;t=000001
I understand who he is in a crowd. Other than being a story teller and great person. He hunted over the world for big game with traditional gear, record holder? Like taken big 5? Sheep slams? all North American big game with trad gear?
Personal friends with Fred Bear, very cool.
You see some of you may come off hard on me. This is definitely not where I want this to go. If we are sharing this time together with him it would be nice to learn who Charlie is and for other that may not know either. I don't follow his post like so of you all may. I'm more here to learn tips and see what guys are killing with there trad bows and tactics to put more animals on the ground. I Apologize for my ignorance on the matter.
Also, so he wrote his book but it is not finished and there will be more to come correct?
Hey Brad,
I didn't mean to be hard on ya, was more poking fun at Charlie.
His book is done, he is a wealth of huntin knowledge, builds a few Sunbear bows, and is a wordsmith and storyteller unequalled.
Hey Redshaft,
No buddy is being hard on ya bud.
Just playin.. :)
In fact I think a bit of playful nature comes out of many people just by the mentioning of his name.
He has written and published a book.
Not sure if any more are available...or where to get them.
I believe it is called "A Bowhunter's Tales"...I may be wrong..I own a copy just can't remember the title.
You can search the members for Charlie Lamb and look up his posts to get a little better feel for what he is about.
This is great place to learn.
Believe me it's okay. I have thick skin. I will look up some of his stories.
 :campfire:
I actually enjoy getting ripped on. Don't bother me a bit. Where I work you have to leave your feelings at the door everyday. I loved the picture of the girl. I have seen that one before. I don't miss many pics like that on the Internet lol.
You gotta have thick skin working for the railroad Brad.
I too meant no offense! Charlie has had some great in put on some of my earlier posts. I would love to own one of his Sunbear bows in a 45# range! :D
He's a friend.
I am pretty sure Charlie has forgotten more about traditional bowhunting than I'll ever know.
If they come any better than Charlie, then I want to meet them as well.
God bless,Mudd

I met Charlie last year and can honestly say, he made me feel like we were old friends from the get go. I hope to share more hunts with him. You would be hard pressed to meet a better Gentleman!
Here's his book!

Charlie is a very acomplished bowyer and his bows are called Sunbears, His recurves are awesome bows and a work of art so are his longbows they are a pleasure to shoot. Charlie built this all natural Hill style bow that I'm shooting.

Charlie told me he grew up as a kid living close to Earl Hoyt and used to ride his bike down to Earl's shop. Charlie has some great story's that I never get tired of hearing.

My post might come off as a little rude and that is not my intention but how are you a member here since 2004 and not know that Charlie Lamb is a dedicated ambassador for traditional archery? You obviously haven't read much since your membership here. He has killed truck loads of animals with his bow and arrows but that has nothing to do with his stature as traditional bow hunting spokesmen and icon.
I can't help but think this thread has spawned to maybe try and cut him down a little. I do not agree that he is a legend as he himself would never admit to being one. He is just a man who has bled for this country and likes to hunt with his bow and arrow. The fact the guy can tell a story as good as anybody and better than most is a tallent handed to him from the heavens.
It doesn't take much of reading past traditional hunting stories on tradgang to know who he is and what he is about and I don't believe you couldn't at least stumble upon this info.

Now it's getting good. Pour it on guys. Thanks

Nothing to see here. From this responce it's my oppinion you are just trolling.
Todd
I think any serious inquiry would call for use of the search mode and there's at least an hour or so of reading as the result of such a search.
I'm just saying.....
God bless,Mudd
To be a great bowhunter and contributor to the sport does that man have to have taken the big five or a sheep slam or a turley slam.
At my age (which is close to Charlie) I think not.....
A few years back, I told myself I wanted to be a little more like Mr. Lamb. I now live life a little better, Thank you Mr. Lamb. ..James D. Berry
You know that scene in all the cowboy movies where the punchers are idling around the chuck wagon waiting for the top hand to show up to get things started? That's the tradgang campfire waiting for Charlie to show up and spin a yarn,

Dang, he has lost a little weight since I saw him at Solana Ranch a couple years ago!

A gentleman and a friend. I've never had the pleasure to meet him. (rather privilege) I've corresponded with him about some things on here and his book. He made me feel like I'd known him for years.

Personable, respectful, and humble are the qualities I like most about Mr Lamb. As well known as he is among members of the trad archery world, he will gladly converse with anyone. He obviously doesn't feel he is above anyone, and treats everyone as an equal. I believe that is as it should be, and I commend him for it. I have tried to talk to a few other big names on this site with little or no response. Do they think I'm not worthy? Do I not deserve respect? Mr Lamb always replies! Thank you Charlie. :)
I forgot to add... He invented Archery.. ;) ;) you can say thank you at any time. :clapper: :clapper:
"Like all my brothers here I'm just a man who loves to hunt with the bow and arrow. That I have been gifted with the ability to somewhat convey stories of some of my hunts comes from God"
Here's a quote from Charlie in a thread that was started earlier this month.....I think Charlie sums it up pretty good....
Thanks guys! I talked to him in a pm making sure of his approval with this thread. I'm hoping for a continued outpouring of info and pictures to become Charlie's thread. I see the man love bibs. Lol.
Really surprised at some of the responses.
Yea, Charlie is one of the good ones and I need to start taking more notes when we hunt to gather and he's talking about the good old days.
