Last couple weeks, I've not had as much time to practice as I'd like due to work.
My shooting was going down-hill and of course I was blaming it on the lack of practice...Started to get a little aggravating this close to deer season.
Anyways, just out of the blue I checked my brace-height and nocking point: String had stretched almost 3/4" which also changed my nock.
Twisted the string up, wnet out and was back to drilling where I was looking! WHEW! glad that monkey is off my back---for this time.
So just a reminder: check your brace height/nock point once in a while; keep your broadheads sharp; be safe! :campfire:

Great reminder! Experienced this not so very long ago after starting to spray arrows all over the place.
Thought it was one of those bad days until I checked BH and bingo, there was part of the problem.
Put a few twisted in the string, went back to shooting and all was better again.
Thanks for the reminder.

X2!
Don't forget a fresh coat of wax as well. Been doing a lot of prep work for the upcoming season myself. It's easy to forget how much preparation and work it is! Lol. And paying attention to the finer details is one of the most important parts.
Good luck to all this season! I hope it's our best yet.

Funny you should post this because it happened to me yesterday morning. I was practicing with a bow that's had a new SBD string that just never seemed to stretch when first used so I got use to not messing with adjustments. Well yesterday it finally clicked and I twisted her up and man what a difference. I had been experiencing some noise issues not really noticing my nocking point so much as I shoot 3 under and usually set it 5/8 to 3/4 high. After adjusting, everything was wonderful, accuracy improved and quietness restored.

I used to keep a card with each bow that listed everything about it that was adjustment related. It really helped at the time. I dont know why I dont still do this.
Good point.

I had a similar thing happen at elk camp this year.

Excellent reminder Ben! I always check my brace height when I string up my longbow whether at home or just before going in the field. I have a ruler that I keep in my pack with all my other gear.
