Canada goose season opens up shortly and need some last minute advice. What kind of broadhead are people using? Actual broadhead or the Snaro Screw-In Bird Point? Any pictures would be great to see. Thanks

I use ace 125gr nd snuffer 3 blades, also 125gr. Flu flu's for the air shots and banana feathers for ground shots. Laptop crashed so no pics right now.

I would think you would want broadheads for a bird as nig as a goose.

I had trouble killing them with the shotgun.
I like your dedication.

I think a broadhead is mandatory (but be very careful if using a dog to retrieve) unless you are trying to break a wing and then deal with it on the ground.
In my experience, full fletched flu flus, although they sound great, run out of steam well before they get to the goose and are nearly worthless then. Either cut them way back, or maybe make some arrows using 5.5 " four fletch or some other similar bigger fletch.
They need to be close, and preferably nearing touch down so they are not moving as fast. Near the end, maybe the last 10 - 20 feet, they are almost floating down to the ground, and going slowly.
Good luck

Yes, it is doable. This goose below had its landing gear set and coasting into the decoys at a little over 20 yards when I popped up and let a wood Flu Flu arrow fly that was tipped with an Ace Hex Head blunt. The arrow connected with the goose's head and it fell like a ton of bricks. I took my early season limit (5) that day and had an absolute blast that day. We just happened to be in the middle of the field where every goose traveling thru Michigan's thumb wanted to be.
When dogs are involved, I will not use broadheads. I have used Bear greenies on ducks and geese equally well. I have tried the snarrow point on pheasants and all it did was push them along. I would postulate that if a snarrow point would connect with the head/neck it would no doubt work, but my experience with them was not pleasant (and that was on a much smaller bird).

This is like way out of my league kind of stuff!! Maybe when I grow up (LOL!)
Hats off to all that hunt birds with a bow......
-
Normally I favor all bowhunting, but let's not be too hasty with those geese ;)

thanks for all the tips everyone. Hopefully I will have some pictures to post in the next few weeks.

I would suggest no dog, and broadheads. Geese are as big and tough as turkeys.....

That's nice shooting, mike. Not many things better than being exactly where all the birds want to be.
