I would like to make a video that compares several custom recurves/longbows on not only objective items such as speed, weight, and noise w/ a decible meter, but also my impression of how they feel. Does any similar test exist that y'all know of? I have seen comparisons between 2 or 3, but I'm looking for more like 10-12.
There are so many custom bowyers out there now it can be hard to personally test more than a handful of designs, so I think something like this would be a good resource for anyone in the market for a new bow. Also, I know a couple FPS difference means nothing, but I'd be curious to see if any of the bows significantly outperform other similar designs as is often claimed.
Like I said has anyone already filmed or documented a similar test?
Yup....That is exactly what i did to help fine tune my prototype bows. The high speed video doesn't lie... You can plainly see why some bows have more vibration and a lot less stored energy being transferred to the arrow..... I have quite a few different designs on these film clips.... I have quite a few other i've got on film that haven't been uploaded to photo bucket too.....
Btw.... the ones that stop dead with very little oscillation are the highest performance, quietest, and most vibration free bows.
scroll through these clips and look at the difference....

Kirk
cool vids Kirk. I knew there was a reason my 3pcs Sasquatch longbow shot so good!
What ever voodoo Kirk uses works, silent and accurate. I am finally getting to shoot my new Sasquatch (work) and it is very impressive.
Kirk; Who makes the Brock1.qt. Is it more stable than the others or do I have it wrong?
Blackie Schwartz has tested a lot of stick bows. He has a website.
Pete Ward has a site and he has tested quite a few bows. He will tell it like it is. How the bow shoots, is finished, hand shock, everything you would want to know.
Very informative as it sure helps if your looking to buy said bow. Just look up Pete Ward.com.

Brock was building his first batch of bows when these vids were taken. He had a company called Bull Mountain Archery in vancouver Washington. This little hybrid bow he designed was pretty impressive all the way around. Very stable, good shooting bow.
I don't know whether he's still building very many bows these days or not. He moved to Chicago last year.
