Well it's finally here! I will be leaving a week from this Friday on Sept 26th to meet 3 new Trad hunting buddies at the Sinbad Motel in Newfoundland! Dave McDonald, pilot and owner of Conne River Outfitters will pick us up on Sunday morning and after an hour or so drive,fly us into the Dollards Pond Hunting Camp. The 6 day moose/bear hunt will start on Monday,Sept 29th. Should be prime hunting during the rut! we are all amped!!!
I'll be looking forward to hearing about this.

Mike, We are going with Portland Creek Outfitters up in the Long Range Mountains NE of Gros Morne Park. I was up there last year and can't wait to go back.

Just picked up an Epic action cam recorder with a remote button for on and off recording. I'm going to mount it on my cap. we'll see how that works out!

Wish it was an easy answer, and will be glad to expound in a PM if you want... None of the 4 of us trad hunters killed, we did have an unexpected wheel shooter added to our party that did though. Beautiful country and first class accommodations, but I would say that for the most part our guides were not in tune with trad hunters and their requirements? Good moose population, but, just not able to get them in range...maybe a little early?
That being said, I had 2 different opportunities and didn't seal the deal, but I was the only exception. Odds are if one of the other three had had the opportunity, there would a pic of a P& Y bull in this post!

I hunted NFL back in 2001 and again in 2004. The guides were not overly enthusiastic about trad weapons then either.
Tough to find a moose guide that is trad aware.
The rock is a magical place to hunt and I hope you have good memories of camp and scenery .
