I just wanted to share what became the best bowhunt of my life. I have shot alot of bucks in my short time as a bowhunter some in the book and others not but this one tops them all. I went out september 23rd with my 5 year old Tanner. We went to a water hole due to the 80 degree temps. We took the blind, our 2 chairs, food and my bow. After about 30 minutes he wanted to go home but then the deer started showing up, we ended up having 6 mature does, 7 fawns and a buck that must have been 100 years old. He had a bunch of junk at the bases, about a 4 inch G2 on 1 side and some nubes for the rest with a 20-24 inch main beams. Well to make a long story short we ended up shooting this doe at 6 yards outside the blind. All deer were within 30 yards at one time or another. I asked Tman what to do and he said shoot her, shoot her. So I did. After the shot we waited 20 min and started to track, this is his favorite part and jumped some deer after 70 yards, we ended up backing off for an hour and mom said it was time for bed, so I was able to get my neighbor to help track and 20 yards later there she was. He was so excited when he got up and saw her in the back of the truck, now all he talks about is going hunting with dad. I absolutly can't wait until he is old enough to carry a bow and hunt with me in the woods. This was the 2nd time he ever came with me and the 1st deer I have shot out of a blind. I am more proud of this doe than any buck I have ever shot. Pics can be seen at

Good Deal! Congrats!

Cool!! I shot a spike with my son who was 9 at the time from a blind. Very neat experience. I didn't want to use my tag on a spike but how often would I get an opportunity like that?

A memory that will last a lifetime for both of you, congrats.

Well done.

Some of my best hunting memories are from just sitting in a stand with my dad before I was old enough to hunt.
Congrats!

Robhood23,
Your son's smile says it all! This is the best possible outcome for both of you!

Sweet ! I pretty much hunt with my 10 yr. old all the time, he killed his first deer last year and a gobbler this season. He hasn't bow killed one yet, but we are after them every chance we get. I am confident he will get one within the next few weeks with his bow. My 4 year old was deer hunting in a blind with me at 2 and turkey hunted once with me this past season. I think my most memorable hunts are yet to come !

Great job!
I've shot 2 does in the last year with my son (now 9) at my side. We've found both of them and he's hooked.

I had a hunt with my daughter last year that ranks right up there for me. In fact most of my most memorable hunts have my children in them (no deer though). LOL After all what else matters more?
Congrats!!

Brent,
I'm up in Coweta County, near Newnan. Hunt Meriwether and Coweta some. I have good friends in Leesburg and Sylvester, artifact diving buddies.
