Title: Glue for tip overlays
Post by: hockeyref on September 27, 2007, 12:00:00 AM
What kind of Glue for tip overlays on a hickory long bow?

What's better for bow building - TiteBond 2 or TiteBond 3?

I have used TB glues, super glue and 2ton epoxy for wood, antler, horn and hoof tip overlays. Either one of those TB glues will work fine for wood bow building. I have started using TBIII because it is more moisture resistant(but less working time) than TBII but either will work and when cured both are stronger than the wood.

I use 2-ton epoxy for tip overlays.  It seems to work well if the mating surfaces aren't perfect.  Kind of helps fill the gaps.  I've also used super glue once and the tip overlays are still there.
