on Oct 11 and 12th. I will post this thread again closer to the dates. I do not recall this occurring in the past but then again I just may have missed it.
Paul
Started last yr.during the new Muzzle Loading Weekend.
I missed it. Glad I did not call in with an antlered deer trying to get a number last year. I don't hang with a lot of hunters so info like this can get by me.
check out the rule book. This yr there are several counties where you can not use the anterless tag. You have to purchase and use only the either deer tag.
Should read the hunting laws every year. Constantly changing!
This year gun hunters may use about a dozen different straight walled rifle cartridges in rifles in gun season. We'll see what effect it has on the deer pop and late season hunts...............
For the past several yrs you could take up to 9 deer--9. Don't know anyone who needs that many. I have noticed a significant decline in numbers in the areas I hunt--but maybe my hunting skills are declining. I believe over harvest plus coyotes ( which div of wildlife says they did not bring in) is a big part of it. I wonder if the state is not catering to insurance and farmers-- I know they give many nuisance permits out here also. Yes when the state was far less populated it was shotgun only-- now they've decided rifle use is ok-- I will likely sit gun season out. Ohios regs are very complicated but if you err they will quickly educate you for a fee. The oct doe only dates are one more thing to remember plus you have to orange up on those dates.

The whole idea of this thread was after reading the DNR publication, was to bring attention to this fact that may really catch some bowhunters by surprise and cost them a fee.
I know there are other changes but that one was a biggie.
Thanks to all for the added info.
