Title: A new person this morning
Post by: wisconsinteacher on September 15, 2014, 07:57:00 AM
Well with the start of a new school year and taking some classes lets just say that stress has entered my life.  The good news is that I feel 100% better this morning. I finally got a full nights sleep and feel relaxed.  I am guessing it was because I was able to sit in the woods for 4.5 hours last night and enjoy life.  My wife and I sat in the same tree but I put her in the shooter stand.  We did not take a shot but had 4 deer within 30 yards and saw a total of 10 deer.  I don't know why it happens, but it does every year.  Getting out into the woods just does something for me that allows me to sit and think about how great I have it.  Would we have liked to get a deer, yes, but we had a blast and can't wait to get out again and enjoy time watching deer, turkeys, and all that nature has to offer.

You are lucky in a lot of ways.  I wish my wife would share in some of the things I love to do.  Then again, she lets me do all of them so I should smile and be happy with that.

Bowhunting is big medicine, better than stress pills.

Glad you made it out..  Even more glad you are able to share it with someone special.  Good luck with school.

Feel the same way...made it out Saturday night on the season opener and had a nice big doe and her two fawns (button buck & doe fawn) at my tree pegs for a good 5 mins.

It is magic and it is why, I suspect, we do this and those that do not...would never understand.

When I got home, our neighbor (a non-hunting mother) was over talking with my wife and asked if I had had any luck?  I said "yes" she said "what did you get?".  I didn't know how to begin to answer that would have held her attention for more than 30 seconds or satisfied her question...

Have a great season!

Kris

After reading all the argumentative posts lately, I am thrilled to read this one! Good luck to you and your wife and may your time in the woods always bring you this feeling.          :campfire:

We walk and sit in the woods together almost every night of the year. I tell her it's for the dogs but I think she knows better. No time better than to be in the woods with your wife and bird dogs.

Yes, it's amazing what the woods and the chase does for us. Went out last Saturday and set up a natural ground blind for myself and then placed a Double Bull blind in a clump of pines a hundred yards away for when I take my daughter out.  It was a GOOD day.   Season opens October first for all, but will take the daughter out with her Dryad Phoenix Lite longbow during the youth hunt this weekend.

Fall is definitely medicine for the head and soul.
