We are just over a week from the beginning of bow season. :bigsmyl:
Who is ready?
I'm gonna have more time this year, but I won't get too carried away(I hope) til up in the middle of Oct.
I'm not quite ready, have to put up a few stands yet. May ground hunt a little in morniongs and then hang a couple while in there..
GOOD LUCK ALL!
I'm utilizing more ground blinds this year along with creating more small food plots to hunt over, just the kind to slow the deer for a nibble while they pass through an area. Looks like the numbers are up after three really bad years of setbacks.
I can't wait! I've been shooting religiously!
I also got my camera ready. I'm going to try to document my season with pics this year.
:campfire: :coffee:
Happy Hunting Kenny!!!
I'm with coach... been shooting pretty regular. Got the stands set and cleaned up and just waiting now....
I've been starting my practice sessions shooting broadheads. ... they are flying great!!!
Good luck to all!
God Bless
Rodd
Shot my broad heads again last nite, still flyin great, now need to sharpen a few to razor edge and wash up my warm weather camo.
Seems my broad heads fly better than my practice arras! LOL
How ya been Gary? Waitin on Magic Wednesday !
Saw a BIG rub from the road today at work!! Its gonna be on soon!
Good Luck Guys. Is Wednesday the opener?
Wish I was. Just started shooting this week. Been a busy year. Won't get serious until Mid to Late October.
I'm ready as I'm goin to be. I love this time of year! Sounds like the weather is goin to be nice and cool on opening day. BeauJ
Good luck everyone. Surgery and other of life's issues have kept me from practicing so I feel that I should watch this season from the sidelines. I'll be following this thread closely to get my hunting fix. May you all have a safe and enjoyable season. I can't wait to see some pictures.
:campfire:
I already have a nice buck halter-broke and just waiting to be led to the freezer. Why drag one if you don't have to? ;)
Darren
Picked up a thermacell yesterday so, yes I'm ready.
Good hunting to all!!
Hunt hard, hunt safe!!
God bless,Mudd
This year will be my first hunt in Missouri, looking foreward to it and also seeing what developes in this thread. Good hunting guys & gals!
Good luck to all you MO hunters ... be safe
Good luck to all you guys!!!! Tim at Braveheart has some arrow making stuff heading my way right now. Should be tossing them at those Missouri deer pretty darn soon. Good luck to everyone hunting with Kenny this year. He's the ultimate host.
:archer2:
Jim, I'll be sure to take a few extra pics for ya man! Sorry you can't get out there bud!
Darren, I gotta check the rules for tying up bucks. Anybody know that reward phone # by any chance? Oh, we'll let it slide if you have video of the tying up process! :D
Don't let Mike fool you guys, he is the ultimate guest!
We had 10.53" of rain last nite, hope the deer have their backstroke practiced up! :scared:
Good luck and be safe guys, Monday its on!! (Actually I gotta work Monday I guess!! )

That's a good deer Kenny!!! Good luck y'all, I'll be in a tree on the 20th hopefully!!!
I'm jumping up and down ready for my 51st bow season, but can't be there for the opener. I've moved back to MS, and I have obligations to take care of, but I'll be there by the last week of September and I plan to stay a month or so. Went up last week and checked my stands and put out two cameras. There's another good white oak acorn crop, and the EHD spared my hunting area, so it should be great!
Shooting a heavier bow this year, and tuned up my broadheads yesterday. 52# Archery Traditions Patriot II recurve, barrel tapered 30" Superceder shafts tipped with 145 g. Snuffers for an arrow weight of 625 grains.
Good luck Brad!
Don, what part of MO are you hunting? I'm at the North end, 50 miles from IA and in center East to West.
Some white oaks are dropping now, if you can find the one the deer are liking, you should be in!
This cold weather has me fired up! Monday afternoon I'll be in the stand ready to fire photographs and maybe even an arrow.
Good luck to you all too
Here's to making this a thread to follow! :campfire:
I see the game laws just caught up with the die of we had down here. Only one doe for the gun hunters this year. Maybe I will learn how to post pics this year. Good luck everyone
Showing the first hunter some of the lease, we saw a good buck that had just rubbed. His antlers were shining red-orange in the early morning sun. Beautiful!!
We still have 2 antlerless up here in the CWD containment zone.
Kenny, I'll be nearly on the other end of the state, about an hour north of Joplin, outside the little town of Sheldon.
Don, we'll practically be hunting the same deer, I spend most of my time hunting south of Nevada close to Milo..Good luck.. BeauJ
Well, I can't buy ya a coffee then! :)
Went to my bro's farm about 11:00, we found the pinoaks were dropping along a levee in a beanfield. Actually it is an entry to another field thru the planted trees that is about 40 feet wide and 150 yds long.
We put up a ladder stand there, hoping the wind will work, there is a LOT of tracks in that avenue!!
Also hung another stand on a ditch crossing , and found one more spot that deserves a stand between a cornfield and some planted oak trees. Should be hot, but ran outta time......
Oh, found some scrapes with the grass pawed out and saw a decent 8 pointer....
Best of Luck Fellas.
Kenny, those spots sound like great places for a tree stand. Don't go killing a pig the first week. Its been a long time since you only worked one job lol. May as well reap the hunting rewards. :readit:
Charlie, it's in the plan! Buuuut, I won't let a good one go just cause its early either!!
Will be packin a camera at all times when I go, so hope to have a few deer pics soon!
It's getting close! You guys should have great hunting weather. I had frost on my roof Saturday morning. I can't wait to hear your hunting stories. Hunt safe.
I may not get the start I wanted in the morning because I got scheduled for a sleep study tonight. aarrgghh!!
It will be good to get it done though and I've tried to lay out a plan that hopefully will still get me in the woods fairly early.
I took all of my hunting stuff to the cabin so when I am released from the study all I'll need to do is drive straight to the farm.
The study could suffer some as I lay there trying to go over in my head everything I packed just to be sure I haven't forgotten something that is essential for the hunt....lol
Good hunting folks! Hunt hard, hunt safe!
God bless,Mudd
Don't they know better than to schedule a sleep study the nite before season??
They can do the sleep study in the woods??? best sleep I ever get lol.
I did some more scouting today, saw a nice buck in a spot I plan to hunt next weekend. Seasons only hours away, I'll be out for a short sit behind the house in the morning. It's been a long time coming, be safe and good luck to everybody!
I've been busier than a one armed man in a dog paddling contest but everything came together and I got a hunt in opening morning! Woohoo! Had two at 10 yards but of course they came from the "wrong" place and my shot opportunity was gone before I could adjust.
Still a great morning and more deer than I saw from stand all year last year so I'm off to a good start!
I got out opening afternoon here, and I couldn't have been more excited. Unfortunately, in my excitement I rushed to my stand from work and overlooked an important detail...
Yes, those are my dress shoes. Luckily they were a backup pair, so I didn't feel bad about walking through the mud with them.
After the rocky start, I had a great evening. I had two fawns bedded in the beans when I showed up, I saw mom later in the evening, and I had about 7 turkeys cluck around for a bit.
No shot opportunities manifested, but it was a great evening in the woods!
I had a very cool morning. A mamma and three fawns came in and bedded around me. I could have shot any of the yearlings, but mom never offered a shot.
The cool part was I got to see a young button buck rub a little sapling, and the smallest of the fawns (still with some spots) let off a "maaaaaa" when everyone else got up and walked off without her.
She was the least observant of the three young ones, and the button buck was the most observant of the three little ones (he was also the largest).
Mom caught my movement at one point but not my scent. She was on edge for a bit, but I was able to hold still enough that everything calmed back down. They went back to normal behavior and eventually grazed out of sight.
Another interesting tidbit - I actually heard the doe let out a few soft grunts before I saw her. So I let out a few soft grunts, and that was what brought her in. She actually responded to my soft grunt with more of her own. Then she appeared in the thickest stuff to my left.
Bowhunters get to see all those details, Brad.
Great, ain't it!
I've been once, after work went for 1.5 hours. Had to rush to get to a stand I set for later in the winter, didn't have any close but felt great to be in a stand!!
A couple pics from the hunt, you can see the 2 clover plots on right and the 1.5 acre bean patch thru tree on left....

Shot her about 9 this morning. She was facing me at 15 yds and hit her perfect. Went 50 yds

I'm going to get to hunt in Mo for the first time this year. Going with a friend, and not really even sure where? We will be hunting the week of Oct 19th.
Bisch
Nice doe Glenn!! Of course we need the equipment data! Congrats!!
Bisch, I took 2 of my best bucks on Oct 21! Good luck!! If you get up North, I'm buyin the coffee!!

L82HUNT, congrat's on the nice doe.
Kenny, I love the "trophy" sunset picture.
:archer:
Congrats on the Doe L82hunt.
Kenny, you quite one of your jobs to be in the woods more.... I think you're slackin....... :readit: ;) ;) LOL
Charlie, Charlie, Charlie .... :D
You are right, I'm saving myself for a large one tho.
Planning to be in Acorn Alley stand tomorrow AM.
Bro and I put the stand up awhile back, wind is right, and will be only 57* . BRRRRR !!
Jim,more to come .
No acorns left on ground and none falling to speak of. Did have a P&Y skeeter around the stand for a bit.
A doe with twins came thru and all was good while she was there, but 50 yards or so past, she huffed about 3 times. Not a real snort, just huuuff .
Didn't want to take her for a few reasons, so shot the camera a bit......
The twins...

4th sit of the season tonight. I've only been seeing little ones while on stand so far. Tonight some cows came in and ruined the last 30min so I packed up early. The cows did me a favor because when I was heading out I saw 4 nice bucks in the hay field (one of them was real nice).
I'm still not sure where those boy's came from, but not where I've been hunting. Back to the drawing board?
Why is everyone passing on the little ones? There the best eating. :D
Well, I had more babies present shots. This guy hung out all night with me Sunday, and then his sister joined me right at last light.
I'm pretty sure mom told them to stay there until she got back, but I never saw her.
Then Monday morning I was reminded of a valuable lesson... again - I'm a slow learner :knothead:
YOUR HUNT IS NOT OVER UNTIL YOU ARE OUT OF THE WOODS!
I thought my morning was done, and I was fidgeting. That's when a nice 10 pointer showed up with two of his smaller buddies. He saw me before I saw him. At 30 yards he locked up and decided to find a calmer place to go bed down.
Keep at em guys.
Setting a new stand tomorrow hunting a Black Oak that has started to drop nuts. Unbelievable number of acorns on this tree. I counted four beds near this tree. Nanny deer are just fine with me...
Took pictures this morning thought maybe I could figure out how to post them. No luck. 4 point and a spike running together let them walk. The doe not so lucky. She piled up in about 40 yards. Can't figure the picture thing out
Nice work! If you have a photobucket account there is just an IMG link you can copy and paste into the reply box.
If you firgure it out, we'd love to see pics! If not, congratulations on the success!
Surely someone is hunting this fine state. Are ya seein' anything? :campfire:
Congrats huey!!
Jim, I'll be at it Friday AM! Sposed to be 57 Friday and 36 Saturday AM!! My kinda weather!!
Good luck all you folks!!

Not sure how to put text by each pic but that's a start. Hope I got the size thing
That's the way to get it done there huey!
huey....Congrats
I've been out three times and only saw some small does but did get within 15 yards of them on the ground. Cool weather coming in and will be in a stand tomorrow evening. Good luck to all.
Taking the wife out tonight when I get off work. We have been hunting a big 8 that should score in the mid 160's so far we have had him in at 102, 46, & 34 yds.
Kenny, you might want to pack an extra jacket for Saturday morning. The weather man says frost likely.
This kind of weather makes my neck swell a little bit for some reason.
Yep Jim, was cool tonight, but the wind kept the deer on edge and just moping around in the planted oaks. Saw 9 does/fawns and one forkhorn, nothing closer than 35 yards....
I hope the frost gets some of the skeeters and chiggers!!
I changed my mind! I shot one of the yearlings that kept hanging out under my stand! Feels good to get the monkey off my back (I missed twice last year), and it's always fun and rewarding to take a healthy animal with a good shot!
Here's a link to the story:

Hey Kenny, great thread. I'll be headed out on the 16th to scout for a day and start hunting on the 18th for a week. Hunting near the Iowa border Northeast of Memphis with my father and a buddy of mine.
In the middle of my first sit of the season here in New York and waiting for one of the many bears I have trail cam pics of all summer. I'm shooting the bow I built with the last pair of lams I got from you last winter.
Congrats Brad!! Way to get it done!!
Jon, I just got to my stand for the eve, saw 9 deer on the way in!! Prob should just go home now and save some time!! LOL
Thanks.
Good luck tonight!
Great luck seeing deer on the way in, but terrible luck with wind. This spot is killer for seeing deer, but the wind stinks here. Or maybe its me, had deer blowing 30 minutes into the hunt.
Got down and went home. Will have to move stand to original location where part of the deer evade ya but wind works! You wouldn't think 30 yards would make so big a difference would ya?
Always learning if ya pay attention! LOL
Congrats Coach and Huey. Will have to remember the bicycle trick.
Good Luck Kenny and Jon, I will take your bear post when you hunt down south. ;)
Heading up tomorrow, after delaying my departure a few days to take care of some business. I'll have 8 days of solo hunting from the cabin before my buddy arrives on the 15th to join me, and I hope to have fresh venison to feed him. Season #51, here I come. Woohoo!
Gonna start in earnest now, weather has cooled off , I'm ready to go! Had a big doe at 10 yards this morning, she sneaked up on me and couldn't get turned to shoot tho!
Figured let her go on rather than educate her by pushing the limit to get turned! LOL
Cool Experience Kenny! You will have your hands full this week. Have a great time... like I need to tell you guys that
Those MO deer better start getting Nervous.
Charlie, Terry Curt and Tracy are all hunting/shooting great this year. Good luck guys.
Yep, 3 of em are here so far. I may start a different thread for em when #4 gets here....
They have seen some deer, I might go help em this afternoon, me bein there will lull the deer into a sense of security so the bucks will show themselves. They know I'm pretty harmless... :D
Man I can't wait to park the truck in Missouri Thursday night!
The deer are starting to move a bit more in the open here. I think they have been locked down on acorns, but seeing them more on fields and edges now. Harvest is on when dry enough and they are looking cut fields over too.
Did some scouting and hung some stands today. Found some good buck sign. Farmer saw a 150 incher in a cut corn field last night. Hunt officially starts tomorrow but I'm sitting in a observation stand about 40 yards from the Iowa line tonight. Got a pic of my hunting buddy by one of the rubs. http://s1381.photobucket.com/user/jgr1269/library/Mobile%20Uploads
JGR...I clicked on the link and it tells me it's private.
God bless,Mudd
I had a close encounter with a mature buck this evening.(Heart thumping close)
Twice I had him at around 30 yds (broadside)with absolutely nothing between us but air.
I had tension on the string but never made the draw. I remember thinking if he were my burlap target I could and would make the shot but on a live animal that I love and respect I couldn't and wouldn't take the chance on wounding him.
I even stood and managed one step closer in my ghuillie suit but he was still out of my comfort zone.
Then the wind swirled, he caught my scent and eased on back the way he came.
A very successful hunt in my opinion.
Why?
Because I did everything correctly and managed to keep my adrenaline and emotions under control thus telling me that when I have an encounter with something like this within my comfort zone I can and will be able to make the shot.
God bless,Mudd
Here we go.
(http://i1381.photobucket.com/albums/ah213/jgr1269/Mobile%20Uploads/1CAB5BA0-F24F-48BF-A208-B903567D8A43_zps79wl3ngk.jpg) (http://s1381.photobucket.com/user/jgr1269/media/Mobile%20Uploads/1CAB5BA0-F24F-48BF-A208-B903567D8A43_zps79wl3ngk.jpg.html)
All three of us saw deer last night. My Dad had a 140 inch ten point at 40 yards but that's as close as he came. This morning should be good.
Thanks nice JGR!
Thank you for fixing that so we can drool over it...lol
God bless,Mudd
Sounds like an exciting nite Roy!! Cool!!
Nice rub Jon! Glad to see your bud not kneeling on the ground with a hand on the rub like the magazine pics usually are!! :D
Heck, I almost forgot!
Last nite, had a couple does coming from my left, then one started looking toward(figured out past) me and they went back the other way. So I turned and looked to my right, 8 turkeys coming silently picking along in beanfield.
I was gonna let them pass and take the last one in line, but the old boss biddy started acting goofy and looking hard. Since one was in the clear, I started my draw at bout 22 yards.
About the time I started drawing, she started clucking loudly and all were on alert. Guessing she was gonna putt the alarm, I shot before I was ready, anticipating the birds were gonna blow out of there.
I mmmmmiisssed... :o
Man what a morning today. Without question the best sit I've had in 30 years of bowhunting. I had a constant parade of bucks down this scrape line I'm hunting. Started off with a 110" nine point at first light. Then a 120" eight point followed by a 135" eight point. Then minutes later I look over near that rub on the cedar tree that I posted earlier and there's a 150" buck walking away from me. He was directly downwind so I couldn't call to him. Then to finish off the morning a 125" eight point walks through checking the same scrape line. Fortunately I got all on video except the big guy. They all came by at 10 yards except the one I wanted to shoot. Probably should have shot the 135" eight but they have a 140" minimum here and I just couldn't take the chance.
This dude landed about 10 feet in front of me tonite, on wrong side of tree, had to give him a squirrel call to get a pic. :)

Great stories and pic's guys!
Another decent morning in the stand. No mature bucks but a handful of 1 1/2 year old bucks chasing does. Pretty warm for the big guys to be on the move. Sure could use a big weather change but it doesn't look like it's going to happen.
That's an awesome pic of an owl! Thanks for that.
Was out this past Saturday morning. Nice and cool. Saw a nice 9 pointer that appeared to be doing some very early seeking. Also saw a young forkie slowly pursuing two does.
First buck of the morning at about 7:15. A young 6 point that came up the scrape line and ended up directly under me licking and smelling my climbing sticks.
Kenny, That's a neat Picture of the Owl.
Thanks Charlie! He was pretty neat to see preening at 10' ! :)
Anybody huntin in the heat wave? I'm savin myself for the cooler stuff!
I did see a good one about sunup this morning from the truck seat tho.... :)
A buddy and I got out together the other morning in the fog! Cool morning, but we didn't see a thing.
I'm going to try again when the next cold front moves through.... which looks to be not too far away.
Yep, I may take off work Wed and Thurs. With working 4-10s that will give me 5 days with Halloween right in the middle of it!!
Good luck guys, the big boys should start showing in daylite soon!
:bigsmyl: :archer:
Get out there, Kenny! The chase is ON!!! I got home from work about 5:05, pulled some Camo on over my work clothes,, grabbed the Widow and out the door I went! Was tied in a ladder stand with an arrow nocked by 530!
About 615 I saw deer out in the pasture, so I hit the grunt call a few times and here they came! Nice heavy beamed, big bodied buck chasing a doe!!
They were somewhat downwind when they stopped just inside the timber. My stand is about 15 yds in the timber, off an inside corner of a pasture.
He finally stepped into a shooting lane, I grunted with my voice, he stopped, draw, anchor, release! Forward part of the lungs, had to just miss the heart!!
Black Widow MA-III, made for me in 6-1999. Named her "Dorothy" after my Grandmother!
53#@30", 64" bow.
Full length Gold Tip trad XT 35/55 with a weight tube.
My self made turkey fletch.
125 gr Magnus Snuffer, clean pass thru!!!
I believe this makes 27 big game critters for "Dorothy"! I'll have to double check that.

Nice buck Brad!
Congratulations buddy!!
:archer:
Very, very nice!!!!
Thanks for sharing.....
Last Sunday evening I went out in the heat and wind.... had a doe and fawn come in right at dark. She was on high alert and never offered a decent shot. Walked out and managed to walk up on a nice buck.... With the wind blowing as hard as it was and in my face, he didn't know I was there until we saw each other. No arrow nocked.... no shot taken.
Good luck and God Bless
Rodd
Hey Brad...Congrats
Nice one Brad!! Congrats!
Congrats on a real nice buck!
Nice buck Brad congrats!!!
That should feed them growing boys for a few days :bigsmyl:
Tracy
Well we went to MO last week, and it was kind of a bust! I saw one yearling buck the first morning, that I could have shot, but elected not to. The I never saw a deer till the last morning, and those does never came close enough to give me a shot. My buddy never saw a deer while on stand. We know there were deer on the property because we were seeing them all the time driving in and out! There was a couple local guys around us, and they too were not seeing much. We were hunting near Mountain Grove.
Bisch
Sorry for the late post.... but I finally got my first trad kill on 30 October! With work and kid activities, time slips away. I promise the whole story by tonight.
God Bless
Rodd
Ok folks, first off I'd like to thank all of you all and the information and knowledge that I've received from this site....
I got out into the woods at 1630 and was quickly covered up with squirrels, both gray and reds... so much so, that it was trying for me to give my thanks to the Good Lord for being able to be out in His wilderness, but I managed.
After a couple hours of watching the acrobatics of the little red and gray critters, thinks started to calm down. I noticed that there was a slightly different cadence of crunching leaves that I have heard before.... something slightly bigger than squirrels!
But try as I might, I could not see through the leaves and tree limbs to make out the sounds. After the the new crunching stopped for a few minutes, it started onece again.... this time headed out away from the leavy screen that was hiding it from my view.
A nice young buck appeared and quickly jumped the creek that was between us, which closed the distance to within 20yrds. The only problem was that he was quartering to me..... at 8 yards out he stopped and shook like a dog, still quartering to me. He then turned to his left, which put him broadside and continued walking. I tried to 'BAAA' him twice to stop but to no avail and had to let down from my 3/4 draw. I quickly reset my feet in the stand and set up for a shot through the branches of my cover tree, directly in front of me and hoped that he would enter it.
Enter it he did! And stopped on his own.... I quickly got to full draw, remember hitting anchor and the next thing I remember is seeing the three white fletches sticking out of ribs... nice and tight to the front leg. Maybe not a sweet 12 ring on the 3d targets, but a good solid 10 ring!
He was gone in a flash and I can still see the arrow sticking out every time I close my eyes. He crashed off to the northeast and quickly disappeared in the dense timber. The crashing came to a stop with one big final crash, followed by silence. I knew that he must be down.... and started shaking bad enough that I sat down. I thanked God for the opportunity and for guiding my arrow, then sent a text to my 14 year old son to get his tracking boots on.
I got back to the house, got out the four wheeler and my boy and I were on the recovery. :bigsmyl:
Last year, I managed a shot on a doe.... Decided to let her go overnight and track in the snow the next morning at first light.... very bad idea! Coyotes had a field day with her. :banghead:
So, I was not going to let them have another. We got out there super quick.... quick enough that I left my flashlight at the house! Jesse had his though and all was good.
I got as close to the scene as I could with the four wheeler, got into the woods and started toward the last place I saw him. Now all I had was my phone light and Jesse had his flash light, so I told him to take point..... "What?" he said..... "You have lead on this, son". He said that he had tracked deer before and I asked him how many at night.... Only one came to my mind and he confirmed.
So off he went with me bringing up the rear. I knew that it didn't get far, but the woods at night can be very deceiving. He followed the trail like an old pro and quickly came up on him.
A very good confidence builder....
This is where I'm gonna have to ask help from a fellow tradganger, CoachBGriff, to post pics.
After a quick autopsy, cause of death was a double lung and aortic shot, Jesse concurred. We found the back half of the arrow and I will go back and find the business end tomorrow.
Total recovery distance was 45 yards...
Equipment used:
Black Widow PL-III 53# @28
CE 250's with 20gr insert cut to 29.5"
Simmons 175 Tiger sharks
Thanks to Brad for posting future pics and going to the 3d shoots with me.
Thanks for reading along.... Hope it was a good read. I would much rather tell it in person!
This is my first Traditional kill....
God Bless and good luck everyone!
Rodd
Rode, congrats, thanks for sharing your hunt.
Congrats on your first Rodd! Ain't it cool?
Bisch
Bisch,
It is sooo cool!!! I will NOT EVER go back to wheels!
I was shaking more after that shot than I did after my first wheelie kill...
Thanks again
Rodd
Sorry it took me so long to get these up.
Here's Rodd's first trad kill! Quite a way to get started I'd say! Congrats!

I made it out this morning. No shots, but I had a really big 9 and a good 3 year old 10 out cruising at about 10:15 a.m.
If you get a cool morning it's worth sitting a little longer. I think those big boys like to cruise for does once they're all bedded down for the day.
Both deer got within 30 yards, but they never offered shots. I really wish I had my camera out. It was an awesome experience.
good lord that's a dandy first traditional buck.
Congrats on beautiful bucks!!
i killed one this eve. second time out this yr.
he was sent trailing me, strange cause he did the same thing my first time out but he caught me moving and busted me. but I was in a tree this time.

Great job to you all!!
Saw at least 25 different deer this evening...3 young bucks chasing and harassing does.
Thanks for the kind words y'all! Nice job Rodd!!
I've been hunting Iowa all this week, my buddy and his son tagged good mature 9 pointers the first 2 mornings. I've passed up 2 button bucks and a nice young 8 that was pushing a doe. Haven't seen a shooter yet! We leave Saturday, so I likely won't pass him a second time lol!!!
Nice buck, 30!
Shot a little 5 yesterday morning 11/7. Had a real good blood trail and thought I saw him go down but went and got my tracking expert for some practice. He went about 100 yds farther than what I thought.

Entrance. Quartering toward at 7-8 yds
She made it maybe 25 yds
Shot this one tonight. Sure not the buck I've been hunting, but with a pocket full of tags & season growing short he didn't get a pass this time.
I was shooting my BW 44#@28" 570gr. carbon tipped with Zwickey Delta 2 blade. The arrow passed through, stuck in the dirt & he only made it 30 yards.
