I notice many of you fellow bow hunters, 4 fletch your arrows is there any advantage to this or is it a preference thing......????
For me they just seem more stable.
preference, looks. on the tech end the arrow can be nocked without concern to fletching orientation
All of the above.
I used to 3 fletch all my arrows, but after shooting some of my buddies 4 fletch.I just like the way they fly.I was hooked on 4 fletch and fletch most all of my arrows 4 fletch even my Axis/MFX.I tune my arrows well so I think which ever way you fletch will work fine.I think they that the low profile 4 fletch fly flatter then the 3-5" or 3-5.5" higher profile.
I like 4 fletch. I have become so use to the way they look, 3 flech dosent look right anymore
I have been using them since 1969. I guess you could say I like them.

Now you got my curiosity going I am gonna 4 fletch 2 of mine and see what they do...will report back on this...thanks guys
FYI......I fletch mine at 4 X 90 degrees. Some guys use 75/105 degrees.
I have a bitzenburger. I set the cock, rotate set a hen, remove the arrow from the indexer and rotate the shaft 180, reinstall it to the indexer then set another hen. Turn the indexer backward to the cock position and set another cock. May be that's the 75/105, I don't know but that's what I like. With the arrow nock pressed on I can fine turn before I glue it
No that is 120/60.
All that I use any more, seems to work for me 4 x 90.
I just fletched one 75/105 and it shoots great. Goin to fletch a few more for this season.
I really like the look of (4) 4" x 90 shields, just don't like the added cost and time associated with it. I have a bitz and a bohning tower jig, and well that tower jig gets lots of use now days.
I just fletched up some for my one bow I must say that they fly great and look cool. I use a bitz 4x90 4" shield LW
4 five-inch fletch...their stability for hunting situations far outweighs the minimal reduction in speed...
I did some 4x90 four fletch and they fly real good, tomarrow I am gonna fletch 1 arrow with 4 3inch fletch on a 75/105 bitz and see how good it turns out, have any of you ever used 3inch feathers......????
I use both, as needed. I like the fact that the 4 fletch 4" feathers do not come close to contacting the bow at rest, whereas the 5.5" fletch i sometimes use are always dangerously close. They are also a bit smaller and less likely to rattle when in a bow quiver.

I shoot 4-fletch at 90 degrees. I use the ancient Chinese formula where the length of the fletches is 1/5 the length of the arrow, and the height of the fletches is the same as the arrow butt diameter. Works perfectly.
How high do you guys cut your fletching for 4 fletch?
Four fletch since 1976. 75/105.
there is a good 4 fletch article from a few years ago. I personally have been shooting 4 fletch for 8 years and probably wont go back to three. Alot of guys are also using goose feathers instead of turkey. haven't been able to source any Goose feathers yet. the water proof aspect of the goose feather intrigues me. they seem softer and last longer but i dont know how they fly.
I was planning on 4-fletch with low banana cut fetching. Any thoughts ?
Nothin but 4-fletch (4x90) for years now. What's been said plus I use 4" (shield-cut) feathers and I like that they easily clear the arrow rest on my Hill-style longbows. 5" & 5 1/2" feathers will often be resting with the front part of the fletch on the arrow rest, which I dislike. It can make a noise in a stand or blind, ruffles the feather, and it just don't look right. :(
Sorry, double post.
I've been shooting 3.5" feathers on my four fletch. I have a friend, Birdbow, who has 3" on his. He loves them. After the season I will burn some of mine down to 3" to see how they handle broad heads. Field points are no problem but I tend to be conservative with my hunting arrows. I have some 3 fletch arrows I shoot for practice and when I shoot them alongside the four fletch the fours group tighter even though they are shorter in length...the fletches, that is.
