Excuse my naivete, but what is the black material sandwiched in the middle of my Silvertip limbs? There are 2 strips at the wedges that fade into a single strip in the center of the core down the entire length of the limb. None of my other recurves (non Schafer) appear to have anything other than wood in the cores....

Could be Uniweft or something like it? A woven glass/ fiber material to add stability etc?
Why not shoot Dave or Beth Windauer an email?
I prefer not to pester bowyers with questions until I'm ordering. I'm sure there is someone on here that is familiar with exactly what this is...
As Chuck said, it is most likely black uniwef fiberglass to add stability to the limbs.But, best to contact Beth or Dave, they would be happy to answer your question.
Looks like Uni-Weft or Core Tuff. Uni-Weft is cross directional, Core Tuff is unidirectional.
