With hunting season finally here :clapper: just wondering what broadhead are you going to use this year? What are you hunting? Are you changing from last year? If so, why?
I'll get it started .... Since I have dropped in bow weight (to about 42 lbs.), I'll be using "standard" 2 edge broadheads (Eskimos, Magnus II, No Mercys) on deer from treestands. I'm uncertain if the Deltas and 4 edge Eskimos I used last year will constantly provide pass through penetration.
Thanks for your reply.

This year will be different as I am primarily a RIBTEK guy...have been for many years...bought a bunch from australia to make sure I would have them for many years to come as well. :)
for 3 blades I am going to try a Grizzly Instinct this year.
I am also trying a couple bamboo arrows with obsidian heads...
So this year will have 3 heads different heads. in my quiver....and see if any can come close to what I expect and observe with my Ribtek heads.
-
Simons 205 safaris, they shoot just like my field points. Hope I have some good results
-
250 gr vpa three blade screw in

As we near 100 replies, here are some totals:
No. 1 choice- Simmons (all models) @ 19
all 3 blade broadheads- 34 (VPA no. 1 @ 11)
all single bevel broadheads- 14(Grizzly no. 1 @ 7)
Zwickey broadheads (all models)- 16 (Eskimo no. 1 @7)
In 2011 the results of a broadhead poll was:
double bevel 2 blade- 40%
single bevel 2 blade- 18%
3 blade -32%
Are you surprised at the results so far?
-
For me, just like the past several years, Grizzly single bevel two blade.

-
Any Zwickey, but the Cliff whenever it's legal...
-

VPA 3 Blade
-
Zwickey 4 blade Deltas on woodies with a Hill style bow, VPA 175s and Butterfield brutes on carbons with my RER longbow and recurve.
I hope to kill a doe in the first several sits with the Hill bow, hopefully at ten yards or less. Then go to the recurve in a pop up blind to try for a fall tuekey, then to the RER longbow for the rest of the season in WI and MI. Maybe SD too, we shall see.
I am planning on going to Texas in early March for javelina and hogs, and for a brief vacation with my wife, and will bring the RER longbow and Hillbow, what the heck.

I'll be using Bear Greenies, Zwickey Eskimos and on my next hunt I'll be trying some old Lafonds Lightning 4.

-
(http://i725.photobucket.com/albums/ww260/overspined/Tradgang/IMG_0932.jpg) (http://s725.photobucket.com/user/overspined/media/Tradgang/IMG_0932.jpg.html)
-
I'm going with the Ace 125 with a steel adaptor on a Full Metal Jacket shaft.
-
VPA 150s
-
Snuffer 145's this year.
-
I got some Grizzly Instinct heads, 200 grains, about 240 with adapters I have. However, they rusted just sitting in the quiver with no rain. So I reinstalled my 200 grain Razorcaps on some Axis 340's with 50 grains inserts. Fly great. The last thing I need to worry about is the edge on my heads. Have used stainless for many years. Guess I will for more years to come.
-
TuffHeads 225 and 300
-
ACE 125 on a 75 grn steel adapter.
-
VPA 200, yes, the red ones.
-
Magnus I
-
I guess I am old school....
Zephyr Sasquatch, steel insert, on the front of Arrow Dynamics Trad for the 62# Black Widow PLX, and Scirocco, steel insert on the front of Nitro Stinger Lite for the 45# Black Widow PL II.
My Black Widow older #45 MA III (dacron string) with the frost finish is also shooting the Nitro stinger Lite set up as above.
I have had great performance out of Zephyr broadheads and continue to use them.
-
225 and 300 grain Abowyer Brown Bears in the silvertip and may use the old 190 grain unvented Simmons interceptors in the Black Widow.
-
Bear Razorheads with bleeders out of my recurve and Schulz Hunters Heads out of my longbow.
-
Gonna try the zwickey 4 blade delta's this year. As I am gonna give the woodies a try.
-
I have switched from Left Single Bevel Grizzly 145s to left single bevel Grizzly Kodiak 200gr on wood shafts with 4 4" feather fletching I made(over 750 total grs) for an AK Moose hunt I was supposed to go on this year but got cancelled. So, I am going to use this set up for Elk and Whitetail this year.
-
160 grain STOS
-
Magnus stinger 2 blade 125 for me.
-
Simmons 205 safari
-
Bet that will do the job Matt. Is that the bow I saw in Hastings?
Ron
-
Ace Standards looks like
Or maybe Simmons Landshark
-
Just received some Dirt Nap "Dead Right There" 125 single bevels. They spin good on my Centershots and with the brass adapter come in at 530 grains. They fly well out of my #44 Big Jim Desert Bighorn and my #47 Treadway Blackswamp. Also have some Magnus stingers in the quiver.
-
Grizzly Kodiaks and Instincts and maybe some VPA's. They all weigh and shoot the same and the deer really won't care or notice much difference.
-
Bear Green heads once again.
-
300 grain VPA screw-in 3 blade
-
Grizzly single bevels. All but one I have killed deer with are still in my quiver because they are stuck in the ground at the kill site after that shot. The price is hard to beat and I know about the technology and care that has gone into each one by a Bowhunter in Ohio.
-
Original Woodsmans. Really liking the trails they leave versus single(two) blades.
-
I started with all 145 Snuffers, but the arrows I'm hunting with came from two different batches, and one batch needed more weight up front. I tipped them from my broadhead collection with 190 ribteks, grizzlys, and tuskers. I don't notice the broadhead when I shoot, so it doesn't matter which one I pick up. Now that set is about 25 grains heavier than the others, but that's not enough to matter to me.
-
Original woodsman are my choice too.
-
Shot 125 gr. ribteks last year out of my lighter longbow, was still healing up.
Back to full strength this year and shooting my heavier Silvertip.
Grizzly Sticks, 160 grain STOS with brass inserts.
-
135gn 4bld. Zwickey Eskalites, aluminum adapter & 50gn brass insert-200gn total
-
The old Bear greenies with broadhead adapters for my Easton FMJ 500s.
-
Zwickeys, and Simmons landsharks.
