Title: Bitzenburger question
Post by: Paul_R on September 02, 2014, 01:47:00 PM
I have a right helical jig setup. Will a straight clamp work with this base and nock holder?

Yes. You just have to adjust the angle of the shaft.

Yes.  You will need to make adjustments to center the feather on the shaft - easy to do.  You can even add a left helical clamp and that will work as well.

Best to offset the feather a little on the shaft in the direction of the feather you are using. The little offset plus the natural curve of the feather will give it good spin. Even the width of a quill will help.

Not to hijack the thread but do you need a different nock holder when using RW vS LW clamps. I see on their webisite they sell R and L nock holders ???

As for the nock receivers, Some say yes some say no. I have fletched right helical, left helical and straight all with the same nock receiver and jig without any problems. Its just a matter of adjusting the jig for the correct contact on the shaft.

The difference between nock receivers is in how one aligns the cock feather in relation to the throat of the nock. Theoretically, left provides the optimal alignment for leftwing feathers, and right for rightwing,...etc. Of course, we all know about just absolute anything is with regards to individuals and traditional archery. Right???
MY advice is to outfit your Bitzenburger with all available accessories and experiment. Find out what YOUR optimal setup is.

I talked to the company last year. The guy I spoke with said the nock receivers are all the same. Matter a fact I have receivers marked L, R, and no marking. I use all three with left wing clamps. No problems for me. Great company to deal with!!!

The only nock receiver that is different is the one to align at 12, 4, and 8 or cock feather up or down.
