Title: Which Asbell wool?
Post by: Kopper1013 on August 31, 2014, 02:21:00 PM
Hey gang thinking of ordering myself some Asbell wool but can't decide on weight or style.
Was thinking I want either a Macinaw pullover or the full zipper hoodie, wondering what u guys like?
Also I live in New York so am interested in what weight wool I should get? It can get pretty cool during November here.

Kopper...I like the Extra Heavy and Blanket Weight stuff, but Teresa has a new early season light weight wool out also.

As far as plaid patterns, for me it's a toss up between Evening Stand Green, Evening Stand Brown, and Timber Ghost. For the solids, like in the Anorak, I am partial to Timber Grey.

Thanks Rodger, Any preference in style? Full length zipper or macinawe?

I prefer the pullover styles. The mackinaw is good in cooler weather. The greatest question is material weight. I prefer medium weight and layering, but our winters in Georgia are mild compared to those you Northern guys endure.

I use 2 styles...the zip up jacket, and the 1/4 zip Anorak.

I like the medium weights also for being able to layer under it.  I have evening stand brown in a pull over, it makes it tougher when layering getting on and off.  Just got a full zip in the new morning mist pattern this summer and looking forward to using it this fall.

Unfortunately all colors are not available in all weights.
My preference here in the North East would be
Evening Stand green and cedar swamp plaid in heavy weight,
and if they would make it, the above plus Evening Stand Brown and Morning Mist in blanket weight.
I love pull overs for no other reason that I just do.
I have two Mackinaws and LOVE them.

This Asbell clothing line is so damn versatile, you can mix and match these at any weight with other clothing and do just about anything.
I really rely on it.

Thought I would throw my two cents in. I've got several pieces of Asbell wool, pullover, zippered jacket and vest. I really prefer the vest for layering. Its non-binding and provides you with many layering options. Most of mine are heavy weight, but only because I like the texture. You cannot go wrong with Teresa's wool garments. I sold my King of the Mountain gear and have never looked back.Buy with confidence but buy quick if you need it for this hunting season. Teresa gets very busy this time of year.
