Title: Hunting camps
Post by: doctari on August 31, 2014, 08:27:00 AM
With the hunting season approaching who else love's to camp out for a week or more and what style of camping do you prefer? I have a Montana canvas wall tent that I really enjoy. The wood burning stove is a treat on cold evenings.

I got this Snowtrekker a few years ago and it has been awesome.  Only 56lbs with the canvas, poles, and wood stove.  Can wait to spark up the lantern and stove!!!!

Always loved those canvas tents with stoves. Never camped in one, though. I am however in the process of building a small shack on our 10 acres in western Michigan.

Really cool how that white canvas gets lit up like that by the lantern...

I hunted in Idaho a few years ago and stayed in a canvas tent. A very fun experience and the stoves will heat the tent up in a hurry. Hope to go again done day.

Our moose camp consists of a canvas wall tent with a wood stove, (being replaced by a diesel stove this fall), and two to three of those portable garage shelters, depending on how many guys there are. The smaller shelter is our cook tent, while the rest of us sleep in a 12 by 20 footer with a 12 by 12 extension that acts as a sitting room on wet days. It's heated by a wood stove and has withstood some wild thunderstorms.
Our campsite used to be a logging equipment parking area and it's flat and covered with 12 inches of pea gravel for drainage.
Only two and a half weeks to go!
Dave.

Here's mine.  It's a 14x16 Davis Tent that I heat with a 4 Dogs stove.   I'll be back in the mountains setting it up in about 2 weeks...Can't wait!

Here is my 14 X 16 Davis wall tent.  We just got back from a little over two weeks of elk hunting in Utah. Rained and/or snowed on us every day but one and the wall tent was a hunt saver.

The difference between a miserable week and an enjoyed week in the rain.

Sour dough bread and venison back straps on the griddle on top of the wood stove.
