Went today to check with the land owner where I have been lucky enough to hunt and see some deer. He said all is good so I went for a walk to tune up my ground blinds. The one I missed the doe from last year was in rough shape, had some twine with me so I rebuilt the blind and cut some better shooting lanes. On the way to another I found a runway that's getting some use, so I set up another. Just like a 10 year old making forts.....lol!!! I think it's going to be a good year, fingers crossed!!
Ron, I'm a rootin' for ya! Stay safe and shoot straight!
Just stay a 10 year old in heart and soul.
ChuckC
I'm trying ChuckC........it's getting harder.....LOL
Good luck Ron.
I know the land that Ron is talking about. Its a great Parcel that holds some deer.
Good luck Ron.
Have a great season Ron.
Happy Hunting Ron!!
Nothing like a new fort, hope you have a great season.
Terry K.
PS - If that old owl ever gets wanderlust, you could send it flying back my way.
Terry the old Owl and I have a romance going on...LOL!!!
Good luck Ron! Shoot straight and happy hunting!
Hey Ron,the only thing better than sitting in a ground blind is sitting in a "new" ground blind. Here is one (you can see the blue snips hanging just about where I will be sitting) that i put together this spring. Good luck buddy.
Good Shooting,
Craig

Keep the kid in your heart Ron, and keep building forts.
Pulling for you, Ron! Good luck this season!
Good luck-this IS your year (maybe break in the new Stalker?)
Have a safe and fulfilling seasion . Every day spent in the wild is a good day .
May life's simplest things bring you the greatest pleasures!!!!
Ron,
I know what you mean! I've been fixing up some ground blinds and putting up a couple of tree stands and I honestly think I have as much enjoyment from doing the prep work as I do hunting.

Good luck, Ron

I'm like a kid when it comes to building forts...I mean ground blinds. Here's a covered one I built on my land last year. I think you remarked it looked more like a condo or something like that LOL.I missed a huge gobb from it last spring.

I used to be a 10 year old making forts now I'm 66 making farts ...
I'm not far behind you........
Hope you have a great season Ron. I like building forts errr blinds I mean.
Well had another morning making forts with Ken T. [KAT}. Set up a couple of spots and killed a few stumps and such. Not a bad way to spend a few hours.......
Can't get my kids to make a fort. They don't get WiFi they tell me. :dunno: :dunno:
Good luck this season! Sounds like the place your hunting should give you a shot opportunity. This reminds me I have to build some forts this weekend too.
I know exactly how you feel Ron, I'm hunting some new to me state land, and after several scouting/stummping trips have found 4 decent looking spots with plenty of brush and blowdowns to build forts in. Looking very forward to hunting this year off the ground. Good luck to you.
One of my favorite things is to wander looking for sign and patterns and building forts. They all have incredible potential as I build them. That is more than half of the fun of hunting for me. Though I have never built a stone fortress like knawbone. That is a work of art.
This is the year for you Ron! There is something special about finding that "perfect spot" to set up a ground blind. I'm getting "antsy" just reading these posts! Deer season is just around the corner!

I am a little late but I hope to start mine this weekend. Love the condo.
A 75 year old guy down the road from me built a fort and took me out to see it. It was cool. It was an apple crate with mirrors on both sides. The mirrors came of an old school bus. The other thing that made it cool was the bridge he made to get to the other side of a drainage ditch. I hope I never grow out of building forts. In fact I'm pumped. I'm going to build another fort this weekend. A regular outpost.
Yes, it is like being a kid again and building forts. I may grow old, but I refuse to grow up.
Happy hunting Ron! I have a few forts left to build this weekend.
Good luck Chuck.......
