Please enlighten me regarding this bow. I saw it on you tube as one of Martin's new 2014 line up. The representative says its 20# at 20 inches but stacks to nearly 40# at 29 inches.
I looked it up here at our dealer and it was so small and petite. Will it really be able to draw that much? My draw is 28 and I really liked the bow, just not sure if it will explode on me. Anyone here have a review or have used one?
Thank you
I believe it's a 54" longbow. I really doubt it will demonstrate good shooting qualities for you at your 28" draw length. This longbow was designed for youths with shorter draw lengths and I imagine the riser grip will be small too.
Stacking is not the same as efficient energy storage. Pretty safe to say this bow will not have the same cast/power of a bow built from the beginning as a 40@28 bow. This could be confirmed by scaling it. If at any point in the last part of the draw it is pulling more than 2.5-3#/ inch it will be a dog. This is a youth bow. I would skip it.
Thank you for your responses. Will skip this one and thanks

I've been looking at this one as well. My draw is only 25" and would love to try a short "longbow". Looking at it on Martin's website, it shows it in low draw weights. Under their "Buy Here" link, it shows heavier weights. I need to e-mail them to find out which is right.
Steve
that's only 2.2# per inch for the last 9"--
maybe not the best way to get to 40# but-not brutal either
Yeah I'm pretty certain its not building 2.2#/inch over 9"...I bet its hitting a good 4#/ inch in the last couple inches. With the profile this 54" bow has I'm pretty sure you'd be stressing the crap outta those limbs.
I just bought one for my 8 year old son. He draws 22" and it shoots a good arrow and is quiet. It is a very thin limbed bow with a small grip and riser. I would not even think about pulling it 28". I think it will give him 2-3 more years before he outgrows it. I would call it a kids bow.
Thanks again for the insights. Since you all have great info, what do you think of the Martin Independence.
Trying to get my hands on a good trad bow but some are really expensive.
Check out maddog bows. Mike can build you a short bow and at a great price.
